Portsmouth v Aston Villa

A top game on paper and it didnt disappoint, End to end stuff from the kick off with both giving as good as they were getting, Only good goalkeeping from both Ter Stegen and Neuer kept the score down, Portsmouth got to grips with the midfield with Matuidi particularly good and not giving Koke much space to dictate, the opening goal came indeed when Matuidi ripped the ball from Koke and passed wide to Martial, he tore down the left and swung in a fantastic cross, Cavani rose early and powered home passed Ter Stegen.

The second half continued as the first ended with the ball going back and forward, chances were plentifull but neither could put them away, Hazard was beginning to show his class and was giving Alves a torrid time for a few minutes but Lacazette was wasteful in the area. He did make amends later in the half when a nice through ball from Koke allowed him to barge passed Kongolo and fire it in low passed Neuer. Neither team could find a winner, it was a really good game which could have ended up a lot more for both if the goalkeepers werent in such good form.

Portsmouth 1 - 1 Aston Villa

Cavani(Martial) 41
Lacazetter(Koke) 68
MOTM - Ter Stegen

Southampton v Liverpool

A vastly improved Southampton took the game to Liverpool and surprised the visitors early by taking the lead, A fantastic ball over the top was taken down well by Gabbiadini, he took one touch and smashed it passed Courtois, they mounted a lot of attacks early as Liverpool looked shellshocked but sterling defensive work by Laporte and Terry kept them at bay. Liverpool eventually came into it but Southampton went in at half time a goal to the good.

A powerful start from the Liverpool midfield trio stoppped Southampton playing, they held the ball well and moved it around very quickly, at tiems Southampton were chasing shadows. They scored when Matic laid it off to Vidal his powerful run saw him through a couple of challenges and he played a short ball to Aubamayeng who was free to slot it hme. Liverpool really had a grip of the game but when Southampton got a break Laporte pulled Gabbiadini down in the box and he ref pointed to the spot, Teixeira ran to take it but Courtois pulled off a magnificent save to keep it level. Coming towards the end Willian and Oscar came on for Liverpool and Willian was the one to win the game with a pile driver after a poor clearance from Ogbonna, it went straight to the winger and he hit it first time passed Szczesny. Liverpool stayed strong against some last minute attacking from Southampton and held out for the win.

Southampton 1 - 2 Liverpool

MOTM - Matic

Leicester v Bournemouth

Well this was a game the home team should have felt confident about after the poor run by Bournemouth, but it was anything but comfortable, Bournemouth were really fired up for this and the middle of the pitch wasnt for the faint hearted, some crunching tackles going in from both sides, some lucky to stay on the park, shots were few and far between as Bournemouth stifled the Leicester dangermen, the ydid get free but Wanyama got back to stop Silva getting into a dangerous area. The second half was much the same, leicester on top but Bournemouth playing for their lives, They managed a couple of breakaways themselves but Mandzukic just wasnt on it today. A rare mistake however saw the break through, Bertrand played a loose ball which Di Maria picked up a quick one two with Silva and he was into the box passed Caulker, he cut it back for Silva who finished nicely. Bournemouth attacked to try and get back into it but Leicester in turn proved they are more than capable at the back and kept them out.

Leicester 1 - 0 Bournemouth

Stoke City 1-2 Manchester United
Giroud(Marrez) 34; Lewandowski(Lukaku) 23, Lukaku(Pedro) 67
MOTM - Romelu Lukau

A very tough game for United today as Stoke impressed rom the off with their workmate, pressing United from the off and making it hard for them to create chances, it was hard for them too as United played with similarly impressive energy. United found a way to win this game not through intricate passing, but through their two CF’s, at times managing to bypass Stoke’s pressing with balls into the strikers, both of whom held it up well today. Playing two upfront and being comfortable going longer was what won United this tough game. Stoke will be encouraged though.

Chelsea 3-3 Newcastle United
Dybala(Verratti) 13, Dybala(Neymar) 42, Neymar 72; Suarez(PK) 54, Suarez(FK) 67, Suarez(Sturridge) 90
MOTM - Luis Suarez.

No one leaving the ground today was quite sure how this result came about, but boy did they enjoy it. Chelsea were a class apart from the word go, spraying the ball about, controlling midfield with some lovely football, Newcastle tried but could not get close and by half time Chelsea were cruising 2-0 up, Dybala taking his chance in the team impressively. The second half though saw Chelsea shoot themselves in the foot and in particular Florenzi having a nightmare against Firmino, first bringing him downside the box, Suarez converting the penalty, then losing him in a swift counter, giving Bonucci no option to bring him down, Suarez once more converting a set piece. Newcastle smelt blood and Tranq made attacking changes, Chelsea continued to look like they’d score again though, cutting Newcastle open at will. It was Newcastle though, with the extra presence of Sturbridge alongside Suarez giving Chelsea’s back 4 extra issues, the two combing for a late late equaliser. Somewhat underserved, Fan stormed down the tunnel at the end, seemingly on the phone to Florenzi’s agent.

Arsenal 1-0 Everton
Ronaldo(PK) 63
Sent Off: Lovren 62

A tight game, Everton giving everything they had, in the end separated by a moment of madness from Lovren.
