Enough is Enough with the CL!

Not satisfied with ruining what was a perfectly good European Cup Tournament, Uefa then allowed the failed CL teams to drop into the Europa League thus imbalancing that.

However their the latest plan, believed to be being hatched by clubs like United, Chelsea, Milan etc is that certain clubs in each League will be guaranteed CL football irrespective of where they finish in their own leagues.

Obviously only one thing is driving this, money!

Allegedly discussions have already taken place amongst the "elite" European clubs to see how it sits with them.

So never mind that it was originally a competition for Champions of domestic leagues, then became a competition for non champions of domestic leagues, they now want to make it a non qualfying competition for a select band of "elite" clubs.

This would mean less places in the current competition for non "elite" clubs, and would in my opinion completely devalue the whole competition down to farcical levels!

It would also totally devalue domestic leagues throughout Europe.

It would be far better (although never going to happen) to return to having the CL for domestic league winners ONLY, and the Europa League for clubs who finish in designated places in their respective leagues. Also allow winner of Europa to compete in following season's CL.

Sheriff.....................................................This has been widely reported as one point discussed between the European Clubs Association at a recent meeting.

There are 220 clubs from 53 different associations.

England has United, City, Spurs, Arsenal, Chelsea & Liverpool as ordinary members (which is main status) plus Aston Villa, Everton & Newcastle as associte members.

It is not something dreamed up by me or anyone else here on JA606, it has been widely reported in the press & on radio too

Like the US Masters in Golf any team that has been good enough to win the European Cup/ Champions League should have an opportunity to play in it for a protected amount of time whether they qualify or not.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

thisand i'll add to this by saying the amount of times you've won it, is the amount of lives you get in the competition, so if you get knocked out once but you've won it twice, you get another go, and so on, and so on
----------------------------------------------------------------------
unless you've got double-digit wins, in which case you get as many lives as it takes to beat Barça.

If true though, it would certainly be a step further in precisely that direction.
