500k bid rejected by Barnsley earlier today, they looking for 1m+
Would be an excellent signing in my opinion

Juddy ........... when was the last time we signed a player that lit a spark under us ?!?!?!?
Ross Mc? Even that for me was more of a flicker than a spark !
Snodgrass was a bit of a unknown quantity to the fans - but turned out to be great .... but not sure many others ... Kasper Schmeichel maybe ?!?!?

Jonty Snodgrass is a good example of the type of player we need to find again.
Personally, I'd heard very little of him at the time...he was unproven in England, but quite highly thought of north of the boarder...risky but cheap...turned out to be my favourite player during those years at the club and worth his weight in gold to us as a team/squad/club.
Who is the striker/goalscoring equivelent to him today though?

we need a fox in box, Evans transfers have been alright so far.
get lowest price possible and take a gamble.
think getting guys who have a desire to work hard and improve are better than the laffertys of this world

good question.
I quite like the idea of Adeyemi at the time...not worked out though I suppose.
Adam Clayton to a certain extent was quite highly regarded...I thought he'd have been decent.
Before that....Lee Trundle

Jud, I didn't know anything about him at the time either, but he was rated and skilful even then.
I think the point was there was a potential talent who could play straight away and the intention was to keep him for a while.
Compare that to Monty Gimpel, one bought for the future, even if he'd have worked out, you're not getting anything for 2/3 years (Robbie Mcdaid another) so I don't see those signings as any real sign of intent for the window they're signed in.
I'm sure there are more Snoddy's knocking about, and generally us Leeds fans aren't going to know about them, Winnall might even be in that mode, albeit older, but i would be signing these players to complement more proven ones as there is bigger chance of the unknowns not working out.

agreed Jonty, a good balance is imperative for a strong promotion chasing side.
Once the club finds that balance of risk, youth, experience, goals & defence then......oh we have do some way to go it would seem.
