priced out of the £ub too.

Why is the price of a pint so ludicrously expensive? In many london pubs it's over £5 a pint, buying a round can cost as much as a ticket to the Emirates, it's beyond a joke, I went out twice last week and now I'm broke, no wonder pubs are closing, and low and behold they close and become a rich persons lush pad, Prime real estate is the great British pub.

I hear that its the duty on the alcohol, the government or greedy breweries, I don't know really? Please could someone enlighten me?

I think the government changed some kind of listing law on old pubs and this hike in drink price is really about cameron, Osborne, Blair and the like handing over our great tradition to their elite property mates, I don't know? But it's an absolute scandal.

Pubs are not, and have never been, the problem, booze is dirt cheap in the supermarkets and some places are horrendous on a weekend night of drunken rabble and its not a local pub that's to blame, our drinking culture is still alive and kicking.

football fans love pubs, people love pubs, tourists especially love the British pub, I grew up in my local pub, I experienced everything in the pub, mostly being with others, sharing this one and only life, together. Such a shame.

There's a pub by me that's selling bitter and mild for £1.50 a pint. It must be quite up until April as it goes back up after that.

The pub market in England is a joke. The beer is awful and the owners have no choice in what they sell unless they go independent.

It's a total monopoly and should be illegal as it is in other types of business. Shepherd Neame run pubs are awful in particular.

You can get an amazingly good 400gm Steak with a beer for $28 in Brisbane. You're just going to the wrong places mate

Plus minimum wage is about $25 an hour

The plough In Heaton moor has gone all Trendy Borris so have the prices, the Elizabethan town bar the bakery and toms place are all about the same north of four quid a pint.

The crown is the last proper old school pub around.

They are turning the moor top into a gastro pub so up the prices will go.

My local bar charges 80 Baht for a large bottle, that's about £1.60 - decent stuff too, so much better than pi$$y English ale/beer

I got a 12p pint in Vietnam recently, certainly better than 90% of what you get in England.

I think the high cost has got a lot to do with the fact that there is the cost of and upkeep of the building to pay, business rates, staff costs, etc.

Down my way in Brighton I expect to pay £4 or so for a pint. there is plenty of competition down here for pubs although a lot have close. I remember at one time we had the most pubs per number of population in the country. The fact so many people come here on holiday, stag and hen do's, etc keeps a lot of trade going.

I also do home brew which is a great way to go if you like ale and easy to do one you have the equipment. I have only done beer kits so far which are a bit hit and miss but will be turning to making my own craft beers from grain soon.
