MUFC failed to win 17 of last 26 games

In all comps.

For me 4th place is gone now, which was the absolute minimum at the start of this season IMO.

I wasn't expecting us to win the league but at least push for 1st, considering what we've spent over the past 18 months.

With that CL group we SHOULD be in the knockout stages on paper, we SHOULD have beaten who was it, Middlesbrough in the COC?

With the way we play, the opposition simply has to defend for 90 mins and that will at least guarantee them 1 point.

LvG won't change anything in the way he has us playing, for me, this is the be all and end all of how we will play under LvG and it's not good enough.

Fed up now

We're not going anywhere so fast it's depressing.

You can't blame him. He's infallible to some of our fans. Akways a ready made excuse for that clown

This is from Opta:

33 - Man Utd have scored fewer goals after 26 league games than in any season since 1989-90. Shy.

I really believe we're in a false position in the league. The way we play, the lack of good goal scoring opportunities we create, the lack of passion we show, the bang average players we have.

We really should be 8th or 9th if not lower.

LVG is killing us. I really believe we're as far away from winning the league as we were in the 70's and 80's.

With Chelsea having the season they're having, top 4 should've been a formality.

i certainly though, when the club was in the top 3, that it was a false position...the football has been poor all season, yet it took a few months for results to catch up with the quality of what was on offer.

i did say before the season started that there was more chance of united finishing 5th than 1st, but it has been worse than even the doom mongers foresaw.

That's the thing though, we are actually better than all those we are above.

The league quality is shocking.

We're horrendous.

One of the current top four may have a dodgy spell, it's almost certain, but are we the team capable of capitalising?

A win today would have been a HUGE step closer points wise but also in terms of showing that we had indeed turned a corner after some good performances of late, they didn't rise to the challenge at all.

We come up with these types of performances and results far, far to often to be a a credible threat or the top four positions IMO.

I don't think it's negativity or just a reaction to today's game, it just looks like we won't be consistent enough to drag Arsenal or City towards us and eventually over-take them.

i did flag last week that if the current top end the season with the same ppg as they have now - not guaranteed i know - it would take 72 points to come 4th, which would have needed united to win 10 of their last 13 games.

as you say, you cannot see this particular united team getting anywhere near that - 8 wins from their last 12 would be an amazing achievement (esp given that 4 of those final 12 matches are against the current top 4, including 2 away from home).
