Joel Matip set to join Liverpool from Schalke at end of season - Sky sources
The German club are set to announce the details of the deal, which will be on a free transfer, this afternoon.
Jurgen Klopp's side were interested in a move for the 24-year-old during the January transfer window, but now look set to complete a summer move for the defender.

It was also reported that Liverpool had followed up that interest with an offer for Matip in January.
Matip joined Schalke in 2000 and has made 27 appearances for the Cameroon national side.
He has played across the back and as a holding midfielder for Schalke, and scored an equaliser on his debut against Louis Van Gaal's Bayern Munich in November 2009.

Anyone know if that Mayer still plays for Schalke?

He does. Unfortunately. Him and Sane both players clubs should look at.

After Mayer's performance at the Bernabeu last season I was convinced a bigger club would come in for him, he ran the show where Schalke almost pulled off a massive upset.
