Alexis drop in form

Like everyone else here I have been amazed as to how much his form has dropped since he's come back. Well Tim Stillman has quite a brilliant article that sheds the light on this. Check it out

It is always going to give big differences if you compare a game where we are 3 up in 20 minutes to one we are 2 down in not too much more time.

For me it is far simpler. Alexis scores and we win = Alexis has had a great game.
Alexis doesn't score and we don't win = people analysing his performance in much more depth.

DJ
Seems like you completely missed the point of him comparing those two games

Team plays well - benefits Alexis
Team plays badly - negatively affects Alexis.
Genius !!!

Alexis is a match winner...Even off for he has hit the post and the cross bar 6 times! since his return from the injury...
In other words with little bit of LUCK...we would have had 6 goals despite playing well below his high standards.

I just don't think it is a surprise that chasing a game Alexis has to go looking for the ball more than when we are 3 up in 20 minutes.
I bet if you could compare the two heat maps for the first 20 alone they would be nearly identical.
After the first 20 in the first game Alexis was pretty much in cruise control, as shown by how few touches he had.

Would be more interesting, and relevant, to compare last week's game to one we played well, Alexis played well, with the players he talks about, but the game was hard fought. Doubt there would be much difference.

Sanchez seems a lot weaker on the ball this season. He gets brushed off it nearly as easy as Ozil.

He struggles against powerful right backs and will struggle against the pace and power of walker
