Mcdermott a bit pieved off?

http://www.skysports.com/story/0,,11673_7143188,00.html

I find it incredibly strange that Brian McDermott has come out this way.

Yes we were trying to sign jimmy kebe, but we weren't boasting about how we were placing in bids left, right and centre, that was the sources and news outlets getting inside information.

Plus, and this includes Nicky Maynard, we have not gone out of our way to try and unsettle players, we do not disclose our fee's until everything is 100 Percent certain that a player has signed a contract.

We needed a player yesterday and the tactic was to bid for all our targets and see which ones were accepted, and have a phoney agent ring up Nikica Jelavic's house saying "I HAVE AN OFFER YOU SIMPLY CANNOT REFUSE"

Unfortunately, Nikica didn't get back til 11:30 to receive the message...

Sorry, went off topic.

Anyways, what are your thoughts of what Brian has had to say.

Oh Brian.

On one hand, I can understand why Leicester have been an annoyance to him in this transfer window. Bought Mills, bid for Long, linked with Kebe, it must have got to the point where he was thinking: "Not Leicester again..."

On the other hand, he should know by now what the business is all about and that agents will use clubs with money to start unsubstantiated rumours just to get their client a better deal (as Kebe's done has twice now). So get over it, Brian.

He's a very grumpy boy.

We didn't even have an interest in Kebe, and we definitely didn't mention him on Sky.

It's quite clearly a dig if you ask me, he specifically mentioned us and what we have done, what we have mentioned.

When he says 'If that's what you are into then fine, but we choose to do things differently at Reading.' - he seems very much to be claiming the moral high ground.

And then he follows with 'hatever Leicester do is up to them.'

Sounds pretty snide to me.

Mind games do you reckon?

It's really come from nowhere because we weren't even interested in Jimmy Kebe and McDermott is a manager under pressure after a bad start and is maybe looking for a scapegoat and wants to blame us, just to take attention away from his own team's fault's. Maybe he looks on enviously at the money we've got to spend?

I can't see that we've done anything untoward in this window. We could have easily gone to town with Maynard and started praising him in public and trying to unsettle him but whenever Sven has been asked about a player, he's said 'I don't want to talk about him, he's not my player' so it's very strange from McDermott and I'm not sure what his problem's are really.

Tord Grip came out and said you were after Kebe amongst others. I think it's more the fact that you were linked heavily and your coach says your interested and nothing happened. Why say it if you have no intention of doing anything that unsettled players.

I feel you're just unlucky because other teams have been doing it to us this summer, specifically West Ham and Sam Allerdyce, and you were just the straw that broke the camels back.
