Memphis and Blind

De Telegraaf caught up with the two at their training camp in Portugal for the national side. They interviewed the two on the sacking of Van Gaal.

Daley Blind in De Telegraaf: 'I've always enjoyed working with Van Gaal and I would have liked to work with him longer. A manager in England will always be under pressure. But in the past 6 months, he hasn't always been treated properly. If Mourinho really does come to United, I'll just have to prove myself from the beginning, like any other player.'

Memphis on LvG sacking: 'This won't have consequences for me. I'm happy at United and the directors are happy with me too.

Memphis on LvG sacking: 'A love-hate relationship? I don't know. Now that he's leaving: that's how it goes in football, in life'

Hmm, Memphis doesn't seem overly fussed about Van Gaal's departure. Maybe love was lost between them in the end?

I always get the feeling Memphis feels he has made it already and isn't willing to put in the graft.

I have a feeling he won't be here by the start of Mourinhos second season.

in the full interview he admits that he hasnt performed well enough but is determined to make it at the club through hard work.

You mean the bit where he says the directors are happy with him?

Yeah, that sounds better

how do you know they arent?

maybe they actually see what happens on the training pitch.

maybe they can see the fact he is a young kid, in a foreign country playing for a new team.

yes he's been poor this season, but thats all you know.

Who gives a monkeys if the directors are happy with him.

Impressing the manager is the main thing

Why the feck would the directors be happy with Depay? He has been terrible. Hopefully Jose can get a tune from him.

Jeez Arab, you can tell you want to be a journo... why not post the full interview.

I didn't see a link for the full interview, just saw quotes on a Dutch journalist's timeline. Anyway, what's different if you did post the entire interview now? Still the same quotes.

Its called context. Journalists are experts in taking things out of context.

The thing I will never get is why LVG wanted Memphis. Like ADM before him, he isn't an LVG type of player.

Both of them, by the way they play, will lose possession of the ball a lot.

agreed, i can see that the general intention is to create a team good at keeping possession, but then sprinkle the speed/creativity on top of that.

but surely you would want fast/creative players who are also reasonably adept at holding onto the ball - ie you might tolerate a fast player with a 75% pass completion rate, but not one who has games where he gives the ball away more often than he makes a successful pass.

Don

Agreed.

Some cracking sarcasm, on your part, on the Hafi LVG thread last night by the way.
