Now that the dust has settled I am quite pleased that we have got McKinnon in as manager. I am also glad that we have had a massive clear out of players too.
It got me thinking of who we should be aiming to bring in to try and get back up at the first attempt. Now, with me having an eye for a player ( I first mentioned we should look at GMS when he was released by Liverpool on the old 606 board) I was thinking possibly Scott Boyd at Ross county. He hasn't been getting much of a game for them towards the end of the season and he is a good solid centre back who defends first.
I also think that templeton might be worth a punt. Now I know he hasn't featured much for rangers but we have been severely lacking width and he would provide it. His wages might be a stumbling block but I think he could be a good player for us.
Has anyone heard any rumours about who we might be looking to sign?
It will be interesting times ahead to see who we target and how we set up under the new gaffer.

Ray seems like a decent manager and will know who is available from the lower leagues. You've had the season from hell but I am sure that, with a few new faces on board, you, Ivan and the other Arabs on here will be looking forward to next season

Yeah, I'm oddly upbeat about our prospects at the moment, and I'm not sure why.
I'm happy with McKinnon and I'm hopeful he'll do well. I think the way in which he has worked up to the job, doing well across a variety of clubs in different leagues, one of which we're about to compete in, will stand him in good stead.
Player recruitment is the key now but I've not heard anything about signing targets. I said yesterday I'd like to see us bring in Brill from ICT as keeper, and I'm sure moves are afoot to bring a keeper in after Kawashima's offer was withdrawn.

I'm feeling more confident about next season, the young lads showed up well in the last 3 games of the season and I think we have the right man in the hot seat to take the club forward.
I agree about Templeton, he's exactly the kind of player that we have been crying out for, watching Johnson run at the Kilmarnock and Partick defence was probably as exciting as the football got last season!
I also agree with Scott Boyd, we need a no nonsense defender who has decent experience and can bring on the likes of Durnan and Souttar - not keen on Donaldson, I think his attitude is pretty stinking.
As I've stated in another article I think Neil Alexander would be a good shout, he has the experience and has been coaching the Hearts youngsters which could help our young keepers - I do think Zwick has a lot of potential and could be a good keeper in a couple of seasons.
I think we should be ok in midfield as we always seemed to be top heavy in that area, although if Paton goes we will need a ball winner - Gomis perhaps?
Upfront I would give Goodwillie another shot, he could and probably should score a barrow load of goals in the Championship, again his experience could help to bring on the youngsters.
I think teams should have a strong spine and Alexander - Boyd - Paton/Gomis - Goodwillie would be as strong as any side in that division and would be better than the dross we had to watch over the last 18 months.
Is there any word on Dow? Maybe he could actually fulfill his potential under McKinnon, because for me he has been one of our graduates who has disappointed me the most.
