The snobbery is ridiculous

Can't believe what I'm reading from some regarding Vardy. Double standards at it's worse.

We have been crying out for a pacey forward with lethal finishing for years now. The 2- 0 game against Spurs in the cup where Theo played up top 2 or so years back we all creamed ourselves at the prospect of a pacey forward playing in front of Ozil. A few months back when Welbeck returned from injury we creamed ourselves at the prospect of a pacey forward playing in front of Ozil. Both were found out due to their limited goal scoring ability, so we returned to Giroud. And now, we may be signing a pacey forward with lethal finishing to play in front of one of the most creative midfielder's in the world and people are having meltdown. Get a grip.

I can't for the life of me see how he will not improve us. He smashed up the league last season and is in the form of his life. Put him in a team like ours with all the chances we create and it's goals galore. He's used to the league, has played for England and has unreal bottle, love to have him here.

Jamie Vardy, welcome to arsenal you beautiful pikey

Mind sharing those stats because I can't find them anywhere.

From Orbinho on Twitter (works at Opta):

Conversion excluding penalties

Vardy
14-15 12.5%
15-16 22%

Giroud
12-13 12.5%
13-14 17%
14-15 24%
15-16 19%

I think a 3% difference is a huge deal esp considering how poor Giroud is at getting at the end of passes.

So did you think Giroud was good enough in 14-15 when he was 2% better than Vardy last season?

No because his lack of mobility in the box limits his ability to get onto the end of opportunities created for him and also his ability to fashion for himself. That has always been everyone's problem with Giroud coupled with his tendency to lose confidence and go missing for chunks of the season.

If he had a 100% convertion rate but only got 15 chances in the season, he'd still need replacing

Agree with the OP.

Some fans have already settled for Morata or Higuain - and it's making them look stupid.

So you are saying that you would be seriously worried if Vardy joined Chelsea Spurs or Liverpool? Because i wouldnt. This signing has "lallana" written all over it - a one season wonder

Was Giroud playing on the wing that season?
