Silvestri going?

According to this short article, it would appear that we're losing our keeper.

If it's true, I've got mixed feelings about it. Great when at his best, but the mistakes...

I've always seen Silvestri as someone that fancies himself, the best photo off him is the one where Leeds United supplied him with a deckchair!..

Like people say, he's a good shot stopper but that's not enough for the challenge Cellino says we're going to make!..

I only hope if he does go that our reserve keeper has signed his new contract, it could be a good start for him!..

I'm seeing similar comments about Silvestri that I saw about Kasper S, who has just claimed his first Premier title, and can't help feel that it's history repeating itself.
If the keeper has defenders in front of him that he has no real synergy or understanding with, it doesn't really matter who is in the pegs for me, we will make mistakes in either of the final third areas in the middle so we will concede goals.
I'm wary of slating the lad for mistakes, he must be terrified of the ball coming down the middle of the park and, rather perversely, the central defenders are thinking the very same thing.
Taylor is solid enough, as is Beradi, so it's fairly easy to pinpoint but you have to change the mix if it isn't working, we've tried numerous combinations or players (as a centre back pairing we've had what, 7 different partnerships, all of which have shook far too often?).
Do we replace the keeper and hope that works or more defenders? Either way, until players are sold I don't see us buying, not necessarily due to the cash in my eyes, but more due to being bloated with 'wrong' pairings we are not sure which will be able to be moved on and which players we will be stuck with to try a new player with.

That's my take on it, I expect the scouting and such is going on but unless Monk refuses to work with a player, until they are sold there are very few options that aren't gambling (I.e. Buy a new keeper, end up with a failed deal for Silvestri, have a bloated keeper rotation and have less funds to buy replacement defenders).

Perhaps BPF is ready to step up as our starting GK?

When Kasper was sold, it was a total shock to me and I was really mad that Bates sold him the first chance he got. He was our best goalkeeper for years, was young and could only improve.

I don't remember too many gaffes from him (but time dulls the memory!), so not sure I would put Silvestri at the same level as Kasper myself.

I actually see comparisons with the young Kasper and Silvestri now.

Both were very good shot shoppers but lacked command of their areas and we're not great with crossed.

I personally think the shot stopping us more natural I st inch so you have that from a youngest age.

It's the ability to command the box and claim the catches which needs to be driven during training.

Kasper has clearly worked on this.

If I'm not mistaken the question was asked before injury about Turnbull and why he wasn't in instead of Silvestri!..

He showed he was as good as Silvestri but had more control over his area!..

Has anyone ever seen Silvestri get stuck into his defenders when they crap up?..

And does he let them know when he wants to claim a cross?..

Maybe his problem is being scared off the bods in front off him, I mean, that Italian mad man, would you give him grief when he's hacked off?.

LIW, for a not so good keeper he's done what none off ours has!..

All we want at this moment in time is a one way ticket to the Premier!..

He's got that and a ticket to Europe!..
