Isn't it interesting how folks are mocking Arsenal for not being able to secure the services of Jamie Vardy? Here's the breakdown:
1) Somehow, likely Vardy's agent, we get a hint of his release clause.
2) Though Wenger never made Vardy a top priority, he pretty much sees no harm in activating the release clause. A cheap acquisition in the works if you ask me.
3) Vardy does not refuse the offer, but stalls after receiving a counter offer.
4) Wenger does not care to improve his initial offer or actively pursue the player.
In the recent past, we have successfully acquired some top players including:
Ozil
Sanchez
Cech
Elneny
Welbeck
Xhaka
So why would I lose sleep over someone with very little international experience?

While I'm very happy we're not signing Vardy I don't understand how people can say "he wouldn't suit our style".
What style is this?
Languid, no pace, no penitration because we have a statue up front?
If Vardy could maintain his excellent form from last season in an Arsenal shirt he would be perfect for Arsenal.
The problem with Vardy is that he'd had one top season during his whole career and he's 29. No way should Arsenal put all their eggs in a basket like that, certainly not when they have more than enough cash in reserve to buy a striker who's been consistently playing at a high level.
