Ake to Bournemouth

http://www.chelseafc.com/news/latest-news/2016/06/ake-loaned-to-the-cherries.html

Thoughts on this? I'm surprised we haven't just kept him at Watford, we seem to have developed a penchant for keeping our players on loan at clubs for more than one season which has worked with our most talented loanees, and it's not like Bournemouth are necessarily more competitive than Watford. Having said that I do still envisage another solid season for him.

Ideally, we wouldn't have bought Baba Rahman for £20+m and Ake could be back up to a nice new LB, while also providing added depth at DM and even CB especially if we wanted to go 3 at the back.

Or keep him for as long as he can be sold the dream, so he doesn't play for any real rival, thus destroying his career in the process.

I often wonder why the big clubs bother with youth systems.

It makes Chelsea a lot of money, we had what 30/40 players out on loan last year, we get a fee for each one and then sell them a few years down the line.

Not saying its a good way to treat them, I honestly dont see why any parent would want to trust Chelsea with their kids future given our recent record.

Why do Bournemouth want him?

He is a good player no doubt but they have Charlie Daniels and Tyrone Mings already at LB.

Daniels was one of their best players last season and Mings one of their most expensive signings who hasnt played at all yet.

No Idea, but in line with our recent loan policy, it would make sense for him to now spend half the season on the bench, before being recalled and sent on loan to scunthopre for the rest of the season.

Ake is better than Baba, How can the club not see this? Bertrand was a good left back, Similiar to Ash, Obviously not on the same level but to sell him for £10m then buy Filipe Luis for £18m made no sense.

Chances are Bournemouth have signed him to play in midfield (or maybe CB), which I'm more than content with. Better position for me.
I see Ake as no better than Rahman at LB.

If Ake plays in midfield at Bournemouth can't argue with the loan, If he remains at LB then loan becomes questionable.
Could have just stayed at Watford, unless the new Watford coach Mazzarri intends to sign a LB/LWB of his choice and sees no place for Ake in the team.

If he's not deemed good enough for us at 21, I personally think we should sell him permanently so he can get on with his career!

Yet another strange move by us - he was Watfords YPOTY last season!

My guess is that there's still an inclination from the player to prove himself on loan, in hope/belief that he can become established Chelsea player (or would have requested to leave permanently).
Personally want to see this next loan stint in midfield (Ake himself said that's his favoured position).

Rarely find a youngster that's signed for a top tier club not have aspirations of playing/being regular in the first team one day...

Club would have sold Ake (+ many others) the dream and If not meant to be..knows will have a good career elsewhere because of the minutes played on loan and performing to high standard (with Chelsea on their CV).
Which is why I find it strange when I hear people use the word "disillusioned" referring to youth.
Fully well know what they are getting themselves into signing for Chelsea.
