Joe Allen to Man Utd

"Manchester United are considering a move for Liverpool midfielder Joe Allen, 26, but the Welshman is also a top target for Francesco Guidolin's Swansea City, says the South Wales Evening Post."

No, wait. Let's think about this for a minute. Could Mourinho be looking for...

Nope. Can't stop laughing at this one.

If Joe Allen joins, [insert dare here].

If he was quality he would have been in the England side a lot more often. He got capped over 30 times I think and people can only remember 1 match v Equador or something like that.

He wasn't pants, but the United history rewrite on him is bemusing. Most of you wanted him replaced during his prime.

It's true, maybe not most, but people definitely wanted him to go.

They used to say "he doesn't score enough"

Chelsea fans didn't complain about Makelele not scoring enough.

The amount of bites is pretty funny. But Joe Allen????

I wouldn't worry about Glenghis.

His passing is very good Winston. I think his application of it is what frustrates a lot of people. We've all seen that he's more than capable of very intelligent quick passing, and finding the space behind a defence with a pass. My own gripe is that throughout his career he hasn't used his obvious skill enough, and has been happy to hide behind the likes of Giggs, Scholes and even Rooney in midfield. You can argue that it's not the role he's tasked with, but his lethargy on the ball, or playing the safe options even when the more aggressive pass (that he's well capable of playing) is on is what I think contributes to these suggestions that his passing range isn't very good, or that he only passes backwards/sideways.

At Spurs, he was the player who dominated the midfield when we dished out that hammering against Roma. However, he became (for whatever reason) a player who mimicked the safe passing style of Makelele, without being nearly as defensively sound. I actually feel that Carrick hasn't lived up the his early potential, as good as he has been.

I agree. Been saying for years that Carrick is overrated. For all his talent, we rarely see him do anything special. He has been a steady Eddie when his talent promised so much more - and United's midfield is imo deserving of more.

If we sign someone like Matuidi then it will be interesting to see if Carrick can keep his place.

PS I still think Pogba will end up at Real Madrid so a player like Matuidi is more realistic imo.
