Wow, really grasping there. Nobody was comparing abilities or status of the 2 players.

The comment appears to be pointing out that Giggs was still playing at the age of 40 in a far more demanding role so why should it be a problem for a 39 year old to perform as 3rd choice keeper?

Giggs wasn't signed though was he

Unless he had a contract offer when he first signed that took him to retirement, I'm pretty sure he signed contract extensions.

Again he's third choice in case of a keeper injury, someone has to sit on the bench

Giggs wasn't signed though was he, he was already at the club, had we signed him at 39 eyebrows might have been raised, Manninger is 3rd choice keeper right?

I assume that you get the logic of signing a 34 year old forward who will be expected to play most of the season as your main forward and, according to reports making him your highest paid player (£220k pw after tax makes it nearly £440k pw).

It would appear logical to sign an experienced 3rd choice keeper who won't expect (or get) much playing time and then let your young possible future 1st choice keeper get playing time on loan.

Gary Mac was 35 when we signed him. Was that a bad signing too?

In it, he talks about Alex Manninger during his time at Arsenal.

Sounds like Klopp wants him just for his leadership and experience.
