Frivolous facts for football Fridays

Two games in four days to look forward to but neither of our upcoming opponents have been competitive opponents before so I am struggling to find much of interest to comment on.

The BBC site says that Nigel has won five of his seven games against Bristol City as a manager.

Chris O'Grady, if selected on Tuesday, will line up against a former employer for the second time this season, having made 42 starts for The Owls plus 18 subs, scoring 10 goals.

Much has already been written about Nigel facing former teams Forest, Derby and Liverpool this month, but did you know he also turned out for the Owls? Just 1 League Cup tie and a first half in the Prem against Derby in a side that also included Benito Carbone and Paulo di Canio with Bruce Grobelaar on the bench. Now that would have been an interesting dressing room! In the Derby side that day? Gary Rowett.

Maybe this Friday's most significant stat is the scoreline from the Sky game at Brighton where our conquerors from last week are getting beaten 3-0.

Gone are the days when you can write about our numerous encounters with Crewe, Vale or Southend Steve. You'll have to dig deep for these football factoids many times this season.

I will be looking on with interest at the 3-5-2 formation tomorrow. My money is on that being binned by game 5.
