Hate to say this but he was our best player since Henry. Game changer, you don't see that kind of goals at Arsenal today. As much as we, Arsenal fans, don't like him he is amazing player. We need that kind of striker. Our best player on the field needs to be striker. You can have thousands Ozils in midfield but without world class striker it doesn't mean too much.
Such a shame he left in that way, he could have been our legend.

Better shot? You must be kidding or blind. When he first joined he was capable of a good long shot / freekick but has lost that long ago.

One of, if not our worst finisher from midfield now.

I'm neither. He's not been as regular scorer in the last couple of seasons, but that because he's had to play much deeper. He would be getting more goals than Ozil is if he were playing in his position

I wonder if Cazorla will ever score for Arsenal again.

I respect your opinion but I don't agree because as far as I'm concerned his finishing is awful now whereas Ozil's has improved a lot.

I always appreciated what Cazorla did well, keeping possession in tight spaces, nice dribbling skills and capable of picking a pass and at times he still does these well. But overall, I feel these aspects of his game are starting to deteriorate too and that his finishing was 'finished' a few seasons ago. Whether that's because he has had less match-day opportunity to keep up the technique required due to position/injury is sadly irrelevant. I remember a string of many games (I believe it was the season before last) where he was missing great chances from point blank range again and again and again and costing us points.

I hope I'm wrong and that he has a good season but like I said, as far as I'm concerned he's over the hill now and we'd be better off not starting him.

I think we're just going to have to disagree here. IMO our season fell apart last season when he got injured. He was by far the most important player in our midfield. I hope he gets plenty of game time this season, as I haven't seen evidence of the decline you've been describing.

Sensible as neither of us are going to be convinced the other way currently. Let's re-discuss as the season unfolds / at the end.

I do agree that he hit a nice patch last season and we did feel it when he got injured. However, my opinion is based on what I've seen in the last few and like yourself I'm sure, never missed watching a game, although only been to the Emirates 5/6 times in the last few as I moved back to London 18 months ago.

Fair enough, let's see how things go this season

Pretty similar myself in terms of games - not a ST holder but make it to the Emirates when I get the chance (have the money) and try and make an away game or two if I can.

Let's be honest it was a bad penalty and should have been saved. I still don't understand why Cazorla takes them for us.
