The only players who can't be very easily improved on are Cech, Kos, The Coq (arguably), Ozil and Sanchez.

To be fair, his return last year of 17 in 36 is not amazing, but it's not terrible, and he is playing for Deportivo.

Compare that to Giroud, who got 16 in 38, playing with one of the best (if not the best) chance creator in the game Ozil, and it does seem to suggest he is better.

Not only that, but statistically he is more suited to us - he made 41 successful dribbles vs Giroud's 11, more assists, more chances created, run further and passed more. Pretty damning stuff.

Ultimately it's unfair to judge him already - if he flops, he flops and he and Wenger will take the criticism, but if he does well then Wenger will deservedly take credit for getting him in a market where Benteke who flopped miserably at Liverpool has just gone for 30 million.

Chris, If he keeps up that form then I agree he could be a real asset but isn't this his first decent season?
Same reason I thought the move for Vardy was a bad one, if he kept up last seasons form then great but it was very unlikely he would.

As in he's essentially unproven at age 27, seems ridiculous that this is what we're having to settle for when we pay the highest ticket prices in the world and have the largest cash reserves in world football.

The more I think about it, the more I think we don't need a top, top striker. Don't get me wrong, it would be the best signing we can make but to get a massive improvement we only need to look at what we have there already. Lacazette would have been perfect.

Giroud is just terrible. Slow, mediocre technique, not consistent enough. Welbeck, physically was excellent, but technically was miles away. Walcott needs no mention

I'm hoping that LP is just a nice mix of the two. Clearly faster than Giroud, and has some technical skill.

But yeah, think a lot of it is just happy we finally have genuinely attempted to replace Giroud

Had he not dithered as usual and got those players in early we might have 6 points now and not 1. That's why he has to go. Makes the same mistakes every year. . Perez is obviously a last minute panic buy as our scouts had watched him several times and not been convinced that he was "top qualiteee".

Sorry, but as fans who pay extortionate prices we deserve far better than second rate players at our club.
