The rise and fall of Theo Walcott

I really had high hopes for Theo. He last played a blinder against Spurs in the cup, got injured and was never the same player again. Say what you may about his skills set, he could have turned out to be the striker we needed - or indeed a top class winger. Instead his decline has been remarkable. I wonder if the coaching staff are to blame. Now we are stuck with him on high wages, wages which Wenger sanctioned because he obviously had faith in him. What went wrong? Would his potential have been realised in another club with better training?

Another player who showed he was an International star is Ramsey. Why doesn't he show the same form at Arsenal? Even Alexis, though playing out of position, doesn't show the form he displays when playing for Chile. What is going on at Arsenal? What will become of The Ox. Will his career be shredded by Arseanl too?

Just curious, but how good do Arsenal fans think Theo could have got?
He was never really an outstanding footballing talent but more a useful player to have due to his pace.
I think, playing for a top team, he was always going to be a fringe player at best.

Every time Walcott has come into a good run of form and looked like achieving his potential, he's picked up another long term injury.

He may still come back from the latest one and put in a decent run, but he'll never reach the heights he might have done and his career will always be a case of "what if?"

No doubt if he never had long term injuries he'd be twice the player he is. His finishing and final ball looked to have improved a lot, and that would have only got better. Not sure he'd have been world class, but he'd have gone down as a very good player for us.

He may have another season where he hits 15 or so of he's injury free. But think he's pretty much peaked now.

Useless article. Blame him for the Iceland defeat in the Euros.

Keep spending most our lives, living in the Walcott hampshire gangsta's paradise

If Walcott stays injury free he still has the potential to be a top player. I also think he will improve the older he gets as a lot of his problems are mental weakness related. The best strikers such as Henry, Ibrahimovic, RVP were arrogant as hell, Theo is just so timid. He should gain confidence the older he gets.

Finally something we agree on godfather.

Walcott could score a hatrick tomorrow and we could lose but the fans will still blame him

Walcot has looks our most dangerous player in the last two games but all I see is article after article on him

Strangest footballer I've seen play live.
I managed to watch him a fair bit when he first started getting games and then only a few times a season lately but in those early years I'd never seen a Prem player look so poor at football.

Simple passes werent controlled, constantly running clean off the pitch etc etc, I found it hard to believe someone that bad was being paid to play.

Then he got a fair bit better, had some very good moments albeit he still looked suspect doing the simple things.

Now he's at a low point again but I think he could get back to being a decent weapon on occasion.

Personally I'd bring in a better CF and a better Wide player then sell him.

He just doesn't offer value for money and if you're paying him as much as we are then anyone actually playing well for us will need to have their wages brought inline with his - this will cause a huge rise in our wage bill.

While we have a lot of money as a club, we shouldn't waste it on players like Walcott.

Ship him out and get better value in from overseas.
