Eye watering the amount of money made by Leeds.

No, it makes it look like Villa spent 329 mill since 04/05.

Try reading the table.

I did. The title says 'Championship spending over the last 12 years' does it not? Then the first column says 'Championship 04/05 to date' yes? And as Villa have only just joined our elite league, that would mean they had spent £329 million this summer? I know they didn't, I'm just saying the table is a bit half baked factually.

Have a think, Have we really sold £127 million worth of players in the last 12 years? I can't remember the transfer window in detail from the season after we got relegated from prem but did we make a huge chunk (say 50m+?) from selling off players then? There's Delph, Cook, Mccormack, Howson, Byram off the top of my head that are biggish transfer fees in recent years, but I'm struggling to think how we would make up the rest of the figure being claimed.

I'm not convinced that the figures are accurate. I found this on the net. Again I'm sure many of the figures are guesswork plus there is a format error in the second column from 11/12 onwards. It shows in recent years, a profit on sales though not a massive one. Looking at the long list of players we have signed, you have to question the quality of players that have been recruited. You could also make a decent team from those who have been sold.

Figures aren't right there Jack, like no fee for Shmeicel!

We've sold loads over last 12 years.

2004 we had to sell and can't remember exactly which fees we got for who. Who a better way of looking at it would be since promotion to the Championship when we should have got promoted back to the prem within 2 seasons tops, no excuses not to have done considering the income from the club.

Then figures are way out

We haven't sold £10m on average each season for last 12 years

Irrespective of the accuracy of the figures a rough sum up of player sales in the last few years gives a very large net gain - circa £15 to £20 million ( pre tax ) on just Ross and Lewis alone.

Now would anyone like to hazard a guess how much the intake has been offsetting all these Sales, I would be the first to admit I don't know but I would also reckon it falls way way short of player sales total.

So back to how as all that profit been, lets just say redistributed and leave it at that.

----------------------------------------------------------------------I reckon we've spent more than the £30m as well

Taking figures from the cashflow statements this is what I make it. Obviously missing 2006/07 and this season. Some figures may relate to a player trade in a different season (eg installment/appearance bonus etc).

It does have a more realistic look to it, in my opinion.
