Game Week 3

Portsmouth v Liverpool
A tight game on paper and a very tight game on the field, neither side taking complete control of the game. On a wet surface, Marcelo came inside midway through the first half and slipped, Khedira was there to pick the ball up and play in Costa, who had plenty time to pick out Lewandowski who finished with ease. Much alike in the second half, neither team gaing control and very much a midfield battle. Chances came and went and neither team could score, this was until Griezmann went on a mazy, he beat Digne, cut inside and slid the ball under the onrushing Neuer. A fair result in the end

Portsmouth1 - 1 Liverpool
Lewandowski (Costa, 25)
Griezmann (68)
MOTM - Khedira

Wolves 0 – 1 Chelsea
Pogba 82 (Aguero)
MOTM - Pogba

A lucky escape for Chelsea in the end despite them dominating throughout. Wolves were forced deep for the majority of the game as Chelsea controlled the game and probed for the breakthrough, with far more shots on goal. Clear cut chances though were extremely limited, as Wolves defended well and created a few of their own too using their pace up top on the counter well. A draw looked a likely result, more so when Chelsea took the 2 players that looked likely to make space for themselves in the crowded Wolves third off but they found the breakthrough with Pogba scoring a stunner from just outside the box.

Stoke v Hull City

Both teams nulified each other and to be fair it wasnt much of a spectacle for the supporters, Both defences and keepers were on top form, leaving both sets of attacks feeling very frustrated.

Stoke 0 - 0 Hull City
MOTM - Marquinhos

Arsenal v Man City
Unfortunately for City they found an Arsenal team on top form and bouyed by there big win last week, Ronaldo especially was on form and a quick fire double put them 2-0 at the break. , City came out looking not to concede any more and they did this to great effect but at the other end they didnt have much luck, not until Watmore cam on late and he got a late consolation.

Arsenal 2 - 1 Man City
Ronaldo x 2 (Cazorla 16), 24
Watmore (83)

Newcastle v Leicester
Newcastle burst out the traps today and within 2 minutes they were ahead, Pjanic threading a lovely pass throught to Suarez who got his first of two, his second came not long after, when a good run by Mane down the right allowed him to fire in a low cross, Suarez got in front of the defence and side footed home. Really a game of two halves as it was Leicester in the second half finally getting to grips and what Suarez did in the first Zlatan did in the second with a fine double, both set up by Hazard to deservedly come back and gain an away point

Newcastle 2 - 2 Leicester
Suarez x 2 (Pjanic 2, Mane 14)
Zlatan x 2 (Hazard 49, 60)
MOTM - Hazard

Man Utd v Aston Villa
Well all i can say is, today the defenders in contrast to other games were terrible, on both sides, losing concentration, misplaced passing, misreading crosses and high balls, it all made for a high scoring game and entertainment for the crowd but both managers will looking to have extra training sessions this week!

Man Utd 3 - 3 Aston Villa
Higuain x 2 (Mkhitaryan 13, 28) Reus (Mkhitaryan 56)
Cavani x 2 (Ozil 20, James 45) Ozil (FK, 67)
MOTM - Mkhitaryan

Birmingham v Spurs

Two solid teams, playing solid football is all i can say, some talent on show but this was a very tight affair with neither giving an inch and always on top of things, some chances for both sides and both unlucky not to score in the first half. Verratti pulling the strings for the home side having the best of chances in the second half but Forster pulled off a magnificent save. Drama came near the end tho as Embolo bursting through at pace was pulled down in the box by Matip, last man so he had to go and a penalty to the away side, with Lacazette off, Embolo stood up to take it himself and made no mistake to give Spurs a vital 3 points so early in the league campaign

Birmingham 0 - 1 Spurs
Embolo (Pen 84)
Red Card - Joel Matip
MOTM - Verratti
