Disk Drive problems

Hi all

This has probably been typed up before so apologises but has any PS4 owner ever had problems with the disk drive in which it keeps on rejecting the disk, then preventing you from inserting it?
I've read online that by switching off the console off and unplugging it completely resolves the issue, but i imagine not in the long run.

Any advice would be appreciated?

I got it on eBay about 2 years ago and the warranty etc was not included in the box so i might be a bit stuffed here. Looks like it might be a youtube video job, but in the meantime i thought i'd see if anybody else had a similar experiences from here.

My old 360 disc lazer went I ordered one and it still didn't work so I smashed it to Fack and got a new one.

I frequent a few playstation forums and quite a few have removed the switch. Seems this is quite a common problem. Seems it's also quick to perform: https://youtu.be/ySRg6aCMKr0

Yeah I had the same thing on my first PS4, think I just cleaned around the switch best I could and also putting the console vertical rather than horizontal helped.

Bought a new PS4 the other day though and it must be a different model as the buttons are actual push buttons rather than touch, which is good

I had an on and off issue with the ps4 a while back where the disc would suddenly eject for no reason and you would be unable to put the disc back in again as the drive kept making whirring noises. i managed a temporary fix by holding the ps4 button down until you hear 3 beeps and then unplugging it for 30 seconds. This worked for a bit but the problem would come back
However i saw a video where you have to screw in a bolt that tightens up the disc drive. You have to take the face plate off though which is easy enough. This seems to have done the job for me. No problems since. Theres a video on the internet which shows you how to do it

This exact thing happened to me as well about 6 months ago and the screw tightening fix worked a treat for me as well. It's a widescale problem but the solution works. Hope it gets sorted for you raptor.

I bought a 2nd hand PS4 earlier in the week. He said he wiped it all so when I got it I put the latest software update 4.01 on through the safe screen. All work fine until I put a game on, it loads for a short while then the disc drive starts rattling really loud then spits the disc out. Can anyone offer any advice? Not on be being tight and buying a 2nd hand one
