Which Manager from your team's past........

Would you like to have seen with a seriously impressive “War Chest"? And definitely allowed the players he wanted? Just to know he how would have done with the funds?

For me it would be between 2:-

John Neale, even if he were given 30m in the 83/84 close season I would love to know what he would have done with what would have been huge funds in that era. He was pretty astute with the funds that were afforded him and perhaps he would have been like Mike Walker et al when suddenly they had a bit more in the way of resources.

Carlo, he kinda (IMO) had the reverse done to him alongside having some of his experienced players taken away without any real attempts to replace during the 2010 Summer.

You asked why Liverpool fans would prefer to see money given to RB as opposed to GH,

................

Given that Houllier was more successful at Anfield with less money to spend it is a good question.

It's a fair question certainly but you don't appear to be accepting the consensus being offered to you by Liverpool fans.

GH had one great season. The success in terms of trophies is debatable (depends how much you value CL success) and the win percentages, plus the context of their respective careers, points to RB.

Plus the competition. Roman had bought Chelsea by the time Rafa came in.

I don't think even us United supporters worship SAF in the same way some scousers worship Rafa. And we are talking Grand Canyon gulfs of class between the two.

Imagine if the scouse had SAF. They would have a world wide sect rivaling that of Scientology, with six dedicated churches and places of worship in Liverpool alone. 74,5% of all scouse babies born from the 90's and up until today would be named 'Alex' or 'Ferguson'. Not a single council house would be without a mural of SAF the saviour, and Kappa would probably make a killing launching a 'SAF' tracksuit line.

Bob Paisley was better than Fergie, so we did have one.

We don't worship Rafa, we just rate him, which most other English fans don't inspite or the evidence.

It's weird the hatred he inspires in others.

Most people try to hide how stupid they are but you seem to revel in it. It's a refreshing change.

Liverpool had very successful managers which Rafa doesn't even come close to. However this article was about giving a load of cash to a certain manager and there'd be no point doing that with Paisley because he won everything anyway!

Until Klopp came along Rafa had been our best manager for 25 years. Doesn't mean he's world class or will go down in history as a great but he was a very good manager. Thus every Liverpool fan chose him - in the context of the question it's the only sensible answer.

I don't know why other fans have such a problem acknowledging him as a good manager. You don't win La Liga twice, UEFA cup twice, Champions League and a host of domestic cups without being good. I can't think of another manager with such a record that is disregarded by so many.
