Scotland manager Gordon Strachan: "We'd like to be better off but we are one point off a play-off place and I've said before that it's a crazy group.

"Form can change in a couple of weeks and this campaign is over a year."

If you have guff defenders though, you surely play to your strengths and go on the attack against teams roughly at our level ...
-----------------------------------
Yep. Which is what he did when he first got the job. Anya, Maloney, Naismith etc were playing great stuff but now can't get near the team for the likes of Steven Fletcher. I really don't get it, WTF goes on inside his head??

We have pace in Anya, Forrest (on fire ATM) and Burke (not even on the bench!!). Not to mention goals in Griffiths as well as McCormack and Rhodes who aren't even in the squad! He is a total fool and needs to go now.

Also Barry Bannan is not an international player. His ball retention is dreadful. Far too many simple passes misplaced. McArthur is our best central midfielder by a mile yet only seems to play if someone's injured.

Hanley has to go as well. It's just mistake after mistake with him. Total donkey who can't even get a game at Newcastle, makes Gary Caldwell look like Maldini. Surely Mark Reynolds or Danny Wilson couldn't do a worse job?

We have goals in us:
Griffiths
McCormack
Rhodes
Naismith
Maloney
Anya
Snodgrass
Ritchie

All being underused or not used correctly, pace and goals to burn in that list, yet we start Steven Fletcher or Chris Martin. Snodgrass hasn't been great but he's been stuck out wide, he has no pace, he should be no 10 making runs into the box and doing what he does best, scoring goals. Ritchie on his day is good but a bit inconsistent. If he's not at the races we need to have the balls to take him off and shove someone on who can take the game to the opposition like Maloney or Forrest etc.

Another option - get Barrie Ferguson in to do the job.
-----------------------------------
Not a chance.

He's not exactly 1st on most Scotland fans Christmas card list is he?

I'm a Rangers fan and was a fan of Barry as a club player but the way it ended with Scotland makes it very unlikely he'd ever be accepted as a Scotland manager.

Not to mention he's had no real managerial career to speak of so far.

Maybe if he goes on to be the next Alex Ferguson and wins a couple of Champions League trophies as Man Utd or Real Madrid manager or something, maybe just maybe he'd be accepted as Scotland manager.
