Strachan set for discussions with SFA

'Scotland manager Gordon Strachan will hold discussions with the Scottish FA in the next few days to review recent results, as speculation over his future continues.

He is understood to be considering his position following Tuesday's 3-0 World Cup qualifying defeat by Slovakia.

Scotland have four points from the opening three games of the campaign.

Strachan signed a two-year deal in the summer after failing to lead the national side to Euro 2016.

The 59-year-old succeeded Craig Levein in January 2013 and has been in charge for 32 games, with a 47% win record.

In 19 competitive matches, Strachan has won eight but a run of only three victories - against Gibraltar, twice, and Malta - in the past nine has put his position under increased scrutiny.

Scotland's next outing is against England at Wembley on 11 November.

England lead Group F on seven points, with Scotland in fourth place, behind Lithuania and Slovenia.

Assistant manager Mark McGhee told BBC Scotland that he had not spoken to Strachan since returning from Slovakia but remains upbeat on the prospect of reaching a first major tournament since 1998.

"I still think we have a great chance of qualification," said the Motherwell boss.

"Obviously results have to improve but I think there is the potential for that to happen."'

32 games, with a 47% win record.

That's actually a pretty good win record.

McLeish is the only manager since Willie Ormond to have a better win percentage and his came off a much smaller sample size.

Still want him gone, can't stand the snidey wee kant.

Staying on until after england game
----------------------------------------------------------------------

What are the chances we'll get any points out of that? What are the chances we'll get a tanking? What are the chances he'll be gone after that game?

We won't get a tanking.

But we will get beat.

The sad thing is I'd take that at the moment. Suppose we get beat 3-1. Does Strachan stay?

Nope.

He's fifnished as far as I'm concerned. Listening to the radio and varied "reports" he doesn't want to stay any longer anyway.

If what we're doing is postponing the inevitable I'm not sure that it's worth it.

Would be far better to get someone new in now and hope that might re-energise players and supporters alike....Only hope that I see of getting anything from the next game. Lose it and campaign is already well and truly over.
