Too many passengers

We played alright tonight, we just have that age old problem of not being able to finish teams off and then be under the cosh for the last 15 minutes.

Monks substitutions cost us the game tonight. He took off our 3 most dangerous players and replaced them with people who don't offer much.

On the plus side Roofe looked encouraging, much better from him.

It's hard to see where the improvement will come from

I don't know because he's been given about 2 games worth of minutes....he showed improvement tonight so I'll just wait and see.

Wigan should have been dead and buried tonight but once again we can't get over the line but I'm still relatively happy with how things are going at the moment.

Roofe shown nothing apart from work rate.

Roofe can't do in the championship what he did in L2 and come on there's a HUGE step up, always a gamble when skipping a league. 2.5m he cost us.

We need to snap up Arfield from Burnley. Was instrumental getting them up, was sub again last weekend. Roofe will need time. Hes new and is playing out of position in a new side, an average side and two leagues higher than he's used to. Give him a whole season at least.

If you camp in your own half, attempting to defend a one goal lead (when you're not good enough to do it), you end up getting what you deserve. Anyone could see that goal of there's coming and in fairness, they could feel like they should have won. Monk's not the first manager to employ these tactics, we've been playing like that later on in games for years and it's excruciating to sit and watch. The desperate defending was like watching the Keystone cops at times. Punting the ball clear only for it to come straight back. We have some decent players at this level, but too many that are clearly not up to it. Simple 5 yard passes straight back to the opposition, working well to win the ball and passing it straight back to them, or passes into touch relinquishing possession. Woeful. Pi$$ed off because walking back to the car that felt like a defeat!

People thinking we have a better team than last term, maybe we have some better player's, but as a team they're no better!..

All this shows is that our back line is stronger but the rest are still behind, and its the rest that are letting us down, we need player's that can attack but when needed can defend, remember, we had some sort off midfield that could do that in league 1 I think, until we get those sort off player's we'll do what we've been doing for gowd knows how long.....survive!..

Surviving seems to be the order off the day around Elland Road these days and that's all we'll be doing with what we have!..
