The atmosphere at the Emirates

Watching other champion’s league matches from around Europe yesterday, I immediately noticed the difference in the atmosphere from what we have at the Emirates. Specifically, I noticed that European fans, as well as chant songs, bring drums to their stadiums and beat them to heighten the atmosphere. When the home team scores, they play a song over the PA system (typically The White Stripes - 'Seven Nation Army'). To round everything up the announcer gets on the PA system and has a call and response routine with the name of the player that scored the goal with the crowd. This to me makes the atmosphere much more electric. I should also imagine it was thoughts of this that was behind Klopp’s ill fated attempt at trying to change things at Anfield (which was shot down in flames).

What we have at the moment before every game, is that dirge of an Elvis song, ‘The wonder of you’ (it may have been changed by now but I don’t know) and the crowd trying to generate their own atmosphere through singing songs.

What I would like to know from fellow Gooners is:

1) Is there any reason why drums are not brought to Emirate games i.e. are they banned?
2) Do you think that we could improve the atmosphere at the Emirates? If so how?

In the early days of the emirates there use to be a lady who bought her drums then the stewards told her to leave then the fans would sing "bring back our drummer back, bring back our drummer back"

she was allowed to drum again but not sure what's happened to her now. Anyone else remember this?

_____________

They are. Typically, along with guitars (rhythm, lead and bass), vocals and keyboards.

By far the quietest stadium I have ever been to

Bernabeu for me.

Then again, it was the guided tour, in the close season.

Best way to see the Bernabeu. You don't have to deal with whining Real fans that way.
