Giggs on Moyes

http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/37736150

Giggs wrote in his Daily Telegraph column: "He came in without any of the inside knowledge about how the squad worked: when certain players needed resting, who was right for which game, who needed to be moved on and who needed to be encouraged.

"Sir Alex might not necessarily have had a first-choice XI but he knew exactly what side was needed for each game, and would have that planned weeks ahead.

"David did not have that information. He started with a blank sheet of paper and for most of the first season we were chasing our best XI, or the right team for the game in question."

If Giggs was assistant manager, why didn't he inform Moyes then? Wasn't the whole idea to have Giggs as second manager to give Moyes the inside information?

Giggs has pretty much summed up what 99% of all managers go into a new job have to face.
Good one Giggs

impossible. I don't think he'd have succeeded in any circumstances, but he was totally shafted by the players who didn't accept him at all. I've no doubt that Giggs was well in the mix for that.

Agreed. Can't trust Giggs as far as you can throw him, glad he's not at the club. Good decision by Jose, Giggs is a snake.

...although, I'd still like to see how Giggs could do if given a managers position, not nessesarily a big club, but he has worked under 2 great managers, so you'd hope some of it rubbed off.

Bit of self protectionism going on here. I think SEs comment is spot on.

Giggs, scholes and Keane will always be relevant as part of the greatest United set up of all time. Rather listen to their comments as they love the club than some scribe paid to cook up some story.
Will never understand those that dig at Giggs, weird fans if that's what they are. Steve farking Round was asst to Moyes not Giggs and I can remember giggsys comments after that joke Moyes mentioned Liverpool being favourites at old Trafford when the Bayern Munich home leg came round. One thing I'm certain of is that had Giggs got the last 3 years in charge we would not have been 7th 4th and 5th having spunk end 500 m on very little worthwhile playing staff.

Yes they are relevant but that doesn't mean everything they say is correct or what needs to be said.

No doubt Giggs is a club legend but I've never really warmed to him and I wouldn't at all be surprised if he was more concerned with himself than helping others at the club, especially Moyes and LVG. I have nothing really to back it up but in a way I'm glad he isn't at the club anymore.

I loved Keane as a player too but I don;t think he gives 2 sh-ts about United anymore, he's a pretty angry man.

Can't be laying all the blame on giggs. Everyone is to blame. But moyes made some catastrophic decisions from day one.
At some point, regardless of what anyone says, the Manager has last say. He made the choices.
'Well it worked at everton, that's why I'm here'
When someone gives a DVD to rio and vidic, I don't think there s much he'll listen too.
I do believe UTD hampered Moyes from the start with some foolish business dealings. And yes maybe, Giggs was being selfish, but Moyes was deffo Stubborn.

I think we as fans can't see no wrong in our former players we will then defends them whatever it takes.

If former players really care about their club they need to back the club in public or shut up.

My first reaction exactly.

______________

I'd be willing to bet that he did. There were a lot of reports of Giggs being marginalised under Moyes and the two not getting on. Maybe because Moyes didn't listen to Giggs and thought he knew best? we can only speculate...I think Giggs failed more under LVG because he was actually assistant manager then.

"If we're Pep, Jose or any other manager coming in straight after Ferguson they all would have done the same thing. The main problem was that Moyes wasn't good enough."

In a nutshell, yes. This is exactly what every new manager faces which makes you wonder why Giggs felt the need to mention it. Either to cover his own arris or a snide dig at Moyes for not listening to his advice. Or both.
