At the time Lovren screwed the ball up in the air, Karius was in the penalty box, fact. McCarther was also in the penalty box, fact. He then headed the ball towards goal, fact.

So can someone tell me what I'm missing here? I think I was the first to point it out in a earlier post, but for the life of me I can't see why Karius didn't use his hands to try and stop the ball heading goalwards for their first goal. For their second goal - - good header, well deserved - Karius has yet to move.

So, can someone help this poor idiot in explaining why K didn't go for the ball for their first goal?

Moreno was outside the box to stop the cross, so it wouldn't have been a pen anyway.
He was getting his hands out of the way to avoid conceding a free kick while allowing a free cross with defenders not set as well which is more dangerous than the free kick he didn't want to give away

Not by me. That's neither here nor there anyway because the reaction on here isn't a factor in Moreno's decision making.

In any case, he'd get less stick if that happened, if any at all. People would be all over the ref for giving it while the hands are in a natural position.

Easily the most replaceable player out of the back 4 that is Clyne, Matip, Lovren & Milner.

Neymar is the most replaceable out of him, Suarez and Messi, but would you want to do it?
