LSTD's League - Season 8 GW10

Man Utd vs Spurs
A massive 3 points this for Spurs as Man Utd literally failed to turn up, pressure is building now on Lubo as it looks like the job is just too big for the poor Yorkshireman
Full time
United 0-3 Spurs
Forster (Kompany) Silva (Kante) Mahrez (Solo effort)

MOTM – In a game where no-one stood out I’ll give it to Silva showing that of the all the Spaniards he can deal better with a cold Monday October night up north

Birmingham vs Portsmouth

A nice game this, Pompey coming into it as slight favourites, but with the pace that Blues now have in their side, I thought playing a diamond in midfield was a little risky – Pompey had the lions share of the ball and in Lewa are always a threat but ultimately I think the lack of width would cost them

Full Time
Birmingham 2-1 Portsmouth
Vardy (Nolito) Rashford (Vardy)
Lewandowski (Payet)

MOTM – Vardy – The first line of defence again today as he harried the ball, took his goal nicely and never stopped working.

Newcastle vs Villa
Villa come into this game flying high and in great form, a really nice front four and a solid keeper in Oblak, talking of solid keepers though Tranq has the very best. Another side without huge amounts of natural width in midfield BUT I think they get away with it today as I don’t really expect Mikhi or Robben to really track too far back. I really do like Ludy’s Villa side but I think their CM is a little pedestrian and Newcastle’s three would over-run them today – Yes KDB would drop back but IMHO would just isolate Higuain further.

Full Time
Newcastle 1-0 Villa
Suarez (Pjanic)
MOTM – Krychowiak – Kept KDB quiet which inturn starved Higuain of service

Stoke vs Man City

I like the way Stoke lined up today – crowd behind them and going for a win. I do like a nice versatile 3-5-2 but I didn’t like LRF’s version of it – didn’t really offer enough going forwards IMHO and with 3 at the back you can afford to be a bit more risky up-top. This is one of those game where it seems the fruity agreed with me. Would be up last on MOTD, Ps Leffy Jose want’s his keys back for the bus

Stoke 1 – 1 City
Benzema (Ribery)
Cuadrado (Sansone)

MOTM – Wanyama did his task of marshalling the defence perfectly

Wolves vs Welshy

Regardless of what you say about Fan he does do a good job of taking over a club and trying to improve them – his side now has a nice strong spine with a fair bit of pace out-wide and with home advantage they’ll be a threat to most sides. Welshy continues to go under the radar but it’s no accident he’s up in 5th spot, his team is very hard to beat. He needs to tone down his team-talks though as it’s 2 <redcard>’s in a row now for Hull – this time it was Biglia that walked for a cynical hack at Mata – they held firm though and came away with a vital point

Wolves 2 – 2 Hull
Hernandez (Walcott) Walcott (Mata)
Vietto (Volland) Vietto (Goretzka)
MOTM – Vietto – re-found some of his sparkle of late and well in amongst the goals with 2 predatory strikes – earnt his side a deserved point.

Liverpool vs Chelsea
Chelsea have had a shaky start to the season the fans demand more of their team, the fact that Fan has posted pics of himself all over facebook wearing an Aston Villa shirt is only compounding the situation – Fan say’s he remains fully committed to the cause but we at the Express and Stir don’t believe him
LSTD Conte-inuing with his 3 at the back whilst Fan shuffled the pack with a 4-4-2, risky to drop Pogba in my opinion BUT with Sanchez and Stirling out-wide he should get some joy in the gaps

Liverpool 2 – 1 Chelsea
PEA (Koke) Griezmann (Koke)
Aguerro (Neymar)

MOTM – Courtois – Made some very good saves today from a pretty deadly strike-force – filled his defence with confidence in his ability

Arsenal 1-2 Leicester City
Goals
Arsenal: Ronaldo (Di Maria)
Leicester: Hazard, D. Costa (Willian)
MOTM: D. Costa (at his efficient and brutal best)

A mighty clash between IMO two of the strongest teams and tacticians in the league; I’m glad I’m not playing either of you this week!!

Not particularly easy to separate the two teams, but with home advantage effectively quashed out by Leicester’s far greater recent form record it made it a spin of a coin match – could have easily gone either way

Chiellini a big loss for Arsenal, and I felt that Leicester took advantage of this and thus I awarded Diego Costa both the winning goal and the Man of the Match Award.
