2016 Grand Slam of Darts

We have reached the knockout stages

Semi Finals
Michael van Gerwen 16-10 Peter Wright
Gary Anderson 14-16 James Wade

Final
Michael van Gerwen v James Wade

Tonight sees only 2 dead rubbers. Wade (through) v Chizzy (out) is the first and then Wright (qualified) v Evetts (out).

Group B :
A win for van der Bergh almost guarantees his progress, while Waites needs a big win.
The winner of Price v Thornton goes through. The loser can also qualify.

Group C sees a straight knockout between Whitlock and Smith.

Group F:
Barney would need a very heavy defeat to miss out. If Sully wins Noppert would have to better him by a margin of 1 leg to force a throw off and 2 legs to go through on leg advantage.
Aspinall needs to win by at least 3 and hope Sully suffers a heavy defeat.

Group D is a straight fight between Hughes and Wilson.

Great to see 5 out of 8 BDO boys through, maybe now Bristow should stop telling us what a waste of time that organisation is.

Don't see a lot of difference between the best BDO players and those just outside the top 9 or 10 PDC players.
Longer formats would harm the BDO players more though.

Noppert looks good, but I don't think he has ever even played in the BDO worlds??

Knockout stages

5 BDO players still in

Jamie Hughes must be the favourite for the last BDO man standing. Winning his group gives him the easier task of Chris Dobey.

Thornton won a 9 dart shoot-out last night to progress, with a 25 to clinch a 5 point win over van der Bergh. His reward is a game against MvG

Fightback from Dolan.
Was 5-1 down at the first break, has got back to 5-5 at the second break.

Bar the top 5 or 6 pdc boys the bdo stack up alright and generally always have done when they move across. It's easy to forget those that moved across like Anderson Whitlock King barney bunting all seamlessly moved into top 16. Sustaining it is difficult and requires application but certainly glen durrant would walk into top 20 and Hughes showing a lot of talent.

No BDO players left

Jamie Hughes bottled a massive chance to win, Noppert was unfortunate to go down 10-9 with a 100+ average, will Durrant was outclassed by Barney in a 10-7 defeat.
