3 new signings?

Now the press is often full of the brown stuff but general consensus seems to be that we're after a new centre back, a defensive midfielder and a striker.

Amongst the players being linked today are...

Centre backs:
Mamadou Sakho
Timm Klose

Defensive Midefielders:
Morgan Schneiderlin (the BBC are reporting that we've tabled a bid)

Strikers:
Scott Hogan

Your thoughts on the above? Who should we push the boat out for and which of the above are realistic targets?

Oh, pardon me, "appealing part of the country" is part of the judgement criteria. Huth - have you ever written anything more stupid in your entire life?

Lets not kid ourselves here! Footballers move for money...the more money you offer then the more chance there is of a player moving to you.
Sentiment plays a very minor part in it.

There are thousands of examples of this.

@HuthTheGreatest - In a bromance with Blackstarr

"Southampton are based in a more appealing part of the country..."

Ha ha! If that was ever a factor in a players thinking, they'd all move to either Monaco or Barcelona not fkn Southampton never mind the likes of London or Manchester!!

Nice try. But utter rubbish.

In what way are Albion smaller than Southampton?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm not a Southampton fan but I'll take a crack at that one.

Soton's turnover is bigger than WBA's, they are more profitable and a lower wages to income % (https://www.theguardian.com/football/2016/may/25/premier-league-finances-club-by-club-breakdown-david-conn)

That says bigger club to me.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
All due respect, the difference in the two clubs' turnover is too small to be significant, and what relevance is wages as a % to turnover? Footballers want to play football and they will play for any decent club. For all Southampton's academy and other credentials (such as wages as a % to turnover), like a lot of clubs they've got nowhere near to winning anything since their one and only major trophy.

Huth has never been to parts of London, Liverpool and Manchester where gun and knife crime are rife.
And he is derided on his own boards.

The whole Premier League's still laughing at Wolves pretending they were a big club for three seasons.

Schneiderlin would be a good signing but would he want to drop to a smaller club than he left at Southampton?

Add to that Soton have a noted academy which is showing no signs of stopping the production of very good players.

Nothing against WBA but Soton are a more attractive club right now.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Southampton's turnover is marginally more than ours but our owners are wealthier so we win on that front.

One place separates us in the league so little difference there.

Our record attendance is bigger than Southampton's and our record of actually winning things makes then look like minnows.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I have no idea how much your owner is worth, it appears to be a group from what I can see. The soton owner is worth about 3 billion though not too shabby.

Plus their better turnover and and wages to income obviously.

I genuinely didn't know what WBA had won so I looked it up - the title in 1919/20 and the FA Cup in 1968. Compared to soton's FA cup in 1976.

So an additional title, 96 years ago. That's what defines them as minnows

You were the one that gave it the head-slapping doh at the suggestion. At best (if I give you the benefit of the doubt on owner) there appears to be little between the two clubs. I personally maintain Soton are at least as big and more attractive right now.

We've won 7 major trophies to their 1. Pretty big difference that!
