Hector Bellerin: Giroud scores these goals in training all the time
Arsene Wenger: I have never seen Giroud score this types of gols in training before
Who to believe?

Giroud said he was a lucky.....

Good for Giroud and his honesty. A fun goal to watch on replays, but that's about it. The second goal also was not too impressive. Arsenal outplayed Watford and only came up with two goals, not too encouraging.

My mistake/correction.. Palace NOT Watford.

Yeah, a 2-0 comfortable win is a disaster

"You can't watch the ball to your foot and you have little control over where the ball is going."
Take another look at Girouds goal, that's exactly what he does. He's looking at his heel as the ball connects. He also cushions and directs the ball home. There was more skill than luck today.

Good to know you rate us so highly to say us only winning 2-0 isn't good

What an interesting topic.
I think Giroud might have scored this goal in training.
Then again, he might not have!

I was surprised souness didnt pick up on it considering how brutal he was being about girouds goal
'He could try that another 1000 times and would never get it, it was luck'

'He could try that another 1000 times and would never get it, it was luck'
=========
The problem with this sort of view that Souness expressed is that Giroud has tried it once and scored once.
When a player bangs in a 40 yard stunner it is often after many, many attempts from long range that don't go in.
When a player scores a wonder free-kick it is often after many missed attempts from free-kicks.
When a player volleys in a beauty it is often the case he has ballooned over many a volley in his career.
So the idea the goal should be downgraded as just luck really doesn't stand up.

That was instincts more than anything.

This luck argument is so flawed. D'J summed it up pretty well, it's just common sense really. Yes 'he wouldn't do it again in 1000 attempts' might be true but that's what makes the goal special.
Every special goal has that element of luck. But you can't have that luck unless you're very talented and actually execute a difficult skill to perfection.
Even Bergkamp's goal vs Newcastle, if he tried it more often, ofcourse the touch wouldn't have been as perfect and the defender might even have just knocked the ball as he swivels. This doesn't make the goal any less special though. Tons more examples like this.
