Coventry City v Bolton Wanderers

Another new ground to visit today as Bolton make the 117.2 mile journey to the Ricoh arena. Bolton now in 2nd place with 49 points face a dog fight with Coventry 2nd bottom with just 20 points. Coventry were one of the best teams I have seen at the macron so bolton anything less than at their best then it will be another Chesterfield. No Marvin sordell as he has left to join Burton. Team news. Wilson may not be fit so derik for him the one change? Usual long term suspects Howard, Davies, Buxton, dervite, proctor, Wilson not fit. Possibly the last appeances in a Bolton shirt for ameobi and. Henry whose loans expire today.

Nah we're under an embargo and not paying the money & wages due to loan clubs for players we have no club will be daft enough to lend us anybody let alone an orange-haired, pint-sized 299-year-old space alien.

You mean Gordon Strachan is coming out of retirement to add a competitive edge to our midfield?

There are other pugnacious retired ginger-haired midfielders of short stature I could have referred to of course, some with Bolton connections

It's good to have a sense of humour. It's not hit the fan yet so until it does, keep smiling.

It looks like NBC hasn't reached the outer areas of Bolton yet which can only be a good thing.

I have just come over all nostalgic. In 1990, when I was younger and fitter and slimmer, I rode my bike from Lands End to John O'Groats. The last day from Bonar Bridge was the day after the England-Germany Gazza tears match I distinctly remember. As you can imagine the locals in the Bridge Hotel bar were overcome with sympathy. Anyway, the next morning I set off into the teeth of an arctic gale, driving sleet stinging my face and knuckles (it was only early July and high summer in northern Scotland was still a fortnight away, winter three weeks away). About 30 miles short of John O'Groats I just couldn't keep going. I stopped at an inviting pub, warm lights twinkling through the gloom (it was almost 2.00pm by this time). As I thawed out in front of a roaring fire (I am not making this up, I promise you) the sound system was playing "Alf". I listed to the whole album before betting back on the road. "Only 30 miles to go" I said to the barman as I put my waterproofs on. "Aye, but they're 30 hard miles" he said encouragingly, before hopefully suggesting that I might want to think about booking a room.

So now whenever I hear Alison Moyet (BBC4 after midnight is a safe bet, there are still some old TOTP clips they can show without compromised presenters, or indeed performers) it takes me right back to that bar in Thrumster or Lybster or wherever it was and the last 30 freezing wet miles of my end-to-end ride.

1990 was at the time the hottest summer on record but I either froze or got soaked or both every single day on that ride.

So anyway, I am delighted the whites are rumoured to be signing Alison Moyet

James Henry has extended his loan until the end of the season. Mixed thoughts over this. Think there is a decent player in him. Made the difference coming on v Scunthorpe but rubbish when he started v coventry.
