Like Tommo says above, Derby have always had a "lets try and walk it into the net" attitude.

Accuracy being the key element, Spart, make the keeper work ! How many goals has Bent scored from rebounds in his career, I wonder.
And how many times have we said Hughes-just wide & Russell - over, on the match threads this season, Scouse ?

If the player makes space he has the time to get the shot on target. It is reading the game so you have the time and space which is the skill.

Our Midfielders spend a lot of time out wide playing in little triangles, which is nice to watch but leaves us with less bodies in the box and very exposed to counter attack through the middle. Thorne rarely got pulled out of position so therefore was able to exploit these gaps, BJ likes to get about more as a DM. You only have to look at how many times Keogh has to run 40 yards with the ball due to lack of options in the middle. Not sure what amount of signings will make a difference if the mentality is to immediately go wide when we are in possession.

Watching Derby recently reminds me a bit of watching England. Scrape a 1-0 win but never look like getting the game by the scruff of the neck, almost like everyone is too afraid to have a go?

We can play with that freedom, I've seen us do it, but expectation has now risen again and it's a case of can this group of players deal with higher expectations?

Not sure if it's being mentioned but De Sart confirmed.
