There are stories circulating this evening that Alan Birchenall has suffered a heart attack and is currently in hospital. He's in a serious condition but stable after defibrillators were used at the scene.
Get well soon, Birch. You're in our thoughts tonight.

A true legend of the club in ever sense of the word. Through thick and thin, the good and bad, he's been the ever-present. I would wholly endorse a statue or renaming of a stand.
Get well soon Birchy

Get well soon Alan. You really are a legend of our club and the county as a whole.
I will toast your return to good health with a couple of libations of happy water this evening whilst playing with my dewberries!
Wishing you a speedy recovery.

An absolute legend.

Best wishes to the Birch. Hopefully, the speedy intervention of the medical staff on the ground and the fact that a defibrillator was available will give him the best possible chance of recovery.

Just back and heard the news of "Birch" whilst in transit. Many people have used the term legend- which is often overused- but not in this case. A legend of the club and of the City. How apt that his life was saved by a defribrillator -a device he has raised so much money to make more available - and that he is now recovering at Glenfield another recipient of his unstinting charity work. Get well Birch and I am sure you will get a special cheer tomorrow

How about nurse Lisa who saved his life- she needs to be brought out onto the pitch at half time for a standing ovation!

Apparently the 10th minute tribute tonight is to shine mobile phone lights.
