Pretty much every player we've tried to sign this month has fallen through either because we're targeting players who are totally unrealistic or because the clubs are unwilling to release their players.

This issue has its roots in the fact that we failed to conclude our business in August.

We all need to stop getting our hopes up in January. Yes we may sign one or two but it's a bit disingenuous of Pulis to claim that we're only going to recruit quality players when the likelihood is that we'll 'top-up' with squad players to replace the ones who've departed.

We've bid £10mill for Jake Livermore

Hands up who's excited by the prospect of signing Livermore for £10-15 million?!

Livermore? Another defensive midfielder? Probably to replace Yacob when he is suspended. £5 million tops.

Shouldnt the priorities be younger central defenders, proper full back, a creative midfielder....

Livermore is exactly what we need.

A box to box PL midfielder. Years of PL experience and along with Snodgrass, the only player that looked any good when we recently played Hull.

Competition for Fletcher and Yac.

10 mill is nothing in todays market. Villa payed more than that for McCormack. M'boro are about to pay that for Patrick Bamford fgs. 10 mill is the new 5 mill.

Not the steller, exciting name everyone wants...but a good, solid and needed addition to our squad.

I agree he's a good solid Premier League player. He will cost more than £10 million though.

It's not a signing to get excited about. I just wish we'd stop getting linked with the likes of Carvalho because anything else will just feel like a let down!

On the subject of priorities i'd say a striker is our top priority. If Rondon did his ACL we'd be in trouble. I really don't fancy relying on Berahino or playing one of our wingers up front.

We have equal priorities in four positions - left FB, CB, DMF and CF.

I see Martin Olsson (a left FB) signed for Swansea today. Can't wait for Swansea to be relegated, then we can take Olsson in the summer. He's a better option at LB than anyone we've got at the moment.

I am now waiting for Crystal Palace, West Ham or Newcastle to bid for Jake Livermore.

Pulisaurus - I think we need to be thinking of Livermore as a replacement for Darren Fletcher, not Claudio Jacob.

JH is right, £10 million is the new £5 million. Albion need to up the ante when it comes to being serious (we bid £15 million for Morgan Schneiderlin, he went for £24 milllion ).

Express & Dingle reporting a deal has been done for Fato - £15m. If true, a great deal for us especially with Jake only costing £10m.
