Key to how we progress is who we bring in, get it right and we could move up another level, get it wrong and we flounder. We want a suarez, mascherano type and hope we avoid the diouf and S Diao types. Not only that but we DO need replacements for Lucas and Sturridge.
Lucas is now far too slow and cant play the klopp way, sturridge every season misses a huge chunk, he cant be relied on; and we need reliable players esp with the effort the team puts in week in and out.
Would a kondabia type do? Or what about a top rated striker? We also need a LB, its telling moreno rarely plays anymore, its obvious hes not trusted. So three players minimum needed, then we need a wide player too.
In summary:
1 Lb
1 Striker
1 DM midfielder
1 Wide player
Out go lucas and studge.
Squad additions.

Robb...two points.
This season out less than coutinho.....thats because hes been sub, when he plays he gets injured 99% of the time.
What about the other seasons......every prior season hes miseed chunks, comes back plays,2 games gets injured.

Sturridge seems to be over his major injury issues, minus the odd niggle here and there and he's one of our best players. Selling him is stupid, having another striker however is a good idea to give us more options when he or Firmino are out.
I think we need another midfielder, somebody who can play the holding game like Henderson does, I think we need somebody who can be a back up to Coutinho so when he's out (which if fairly often) Firmino can stay central and I think we need another Mané, a direct quick player to take the game to the opposition.

All a moot point as we won't sign anybody this window.
We never buy in January anymore!

GB that post is so factually incorrect I don't really know where to start but I will again try and put this to bed.
Why do you think people have operations? This is a genuine question.
I think it's to fix something but I'm old fashioned.
So he's had an operation and has been as fit and available as pretty much anyone else in our first team really for the last year.
Now I'm not saying he's made of granite by any means. He's a bouncy, explosive guy with a low centre of gravity and excellent balance and that means putting certain parts of the body under strain be that ankles, calfs and thighs. His technique in shooting will put a lot of pressure on his hips as that's where he gets the power and no back lift.
Fact is there is not a better back up striker in the league or even a lot of leagues. He's been as fit as anyone really in our squad for best part of a year.
If he is willing to stay we absolutely keep him because that's the correct football decision.

Not sure that's true at all.
I don't think Sturridge is capable of playing the minutes Clyne does for example. Nowhere near in fact.
If he was asked to play every game he would break down.

GB, agree with you, we do need to bolster the team with a few strategic acquisitions. Trouble is I don't think we will, and we see this time and time again where there is a real and present need.
I see reports of a raid on the Bundesliga, and that could be ideal given Klopp's contacts and knowledge of that environment but in the background you still feel Ayre is pulling the strings, and this won't change until he leaves for TSV in the summer.

Back on studge.....since his op when hes played a run of games he has got Injured. So stop trying to appear so sanctimonious, he simply cannot be relied on.

It's nothing to do with sanctimony it's just not true.

Sell Coutinho and Matip, both injured far too much...
