Sheffield Wednesday v Huddersfield Town
Sat 14 January 2017 15:00 at Hillsborough
I'll start this match thread off by asking if anyone else is concerned that Mr Wagner thinks the current squad is strong enough to compete for promotion? He said Town would not be spending millions! A striker, or two is a MUST, Mr Wagner! Did Mr Hoyle not state that if Town were near the top in January, that he would make sure funds were available for a push? Come on David, spend some brass!!!
On the current form table, last eight matches, Sheff Weds are third, Town are fourth. The Owls also have a sturdy defence, fourth best and Town seventh. The home team are not too prolific in front of goal only sixteenth best, Town are fourteenth.
Results for last eight matches.
WLWWWDDL (OWLS) DWWWWDWW (TERRIERS)
What are these stats telling us? A nailed on 0-0 result, that's what they are screaming out! It won't be a bore draw, both teams are not where they are by playing dull football. This should be a cracker with both teams wanting the full quota of points! Will it happen?
If Mr Wagner plays the same players in midfield as he did against Port Vale; sorry lads...by benching Mooy again, then the ball may find the back of the nets of Westwood's goals.
This is a YORKSHIRE derby, this is the passion, this is the excitement, this Huddersfield Town! UTT!

That 'red' seemed overly harsh on the highlights show.
Bit hard to stomach when you see the ref up close & he pulled out a straight red. ?
Wagner. I think he was almost stunned ... No disgrace in my mind. A 2nd was always on when you have to commit with 10 men.
The 1st. Great goal what can we say. Every now & again all sides take one like that on the chin.
Tight at the top end, Just how the ladies like it, Have you noticed how many more are attending games these days .

I thought Ward exposed himself ..
Had he an option in that split second... The defender on the line froze ! Role reversal should have come into play in that instant.
More a consequence of 1st half missed chances, (you have to make 'em count)
Then as I mentioned, being darn to '10'..over committed. And just as at our place earlier on in the season..rapid counter attack. 2 nil.
I'm always hard pressed to 'blame' a keeper ! 10 in front of him who haven't performed by the time he's involved.
So that's a Striker on the list.
Defenders of competence seem thin on the ground.
Are we now adding a keeper to the list ?
With just another loanee brought in 17 days into the 'window'..I don't think Olive will like demand for more money to be spent,
We'll see.

Town have a couple of others keepers Darn, Coleman and Coddington. Granted, Coddington is a kid, but Smithies was a young un when he began playing for Town. So, no need to purchase a keeper, unable to send Ward back apparently!
Time will tell, but those strikers are slow coming. I'd be very surprised and disappointed if decent money isn't spent addressing the obvious issue.
