Apologies for the off topic, but I'm going to Rome in February for a week and was wondering if anyone else has been there.
What places to visit, landmarks, the food etc. The colosseum will obviously be one of the first places we'll be going to check out.. I've always wanted to visit Italy and I'm really looking forward to it.

A few tips from me
1) Stay near Trevi Fountain/Spanish steps
2) Best food is in west part of town
3) Do the colloseum tour
4) Go so "St Paul's outside the walls" https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Basilica_of_Saint_Paul_Outside_the_Walls
That's where Paul the Apostle's body is.
5) Keep your wits about you as the locals are hustlers
Beautiful city

Rome can be done in a day or two.
Much nicer parts of Italy are to be experienced imo, Florence is possibly my favourite city in Europe, the Amalfi Coast one of my favourite holiday destinations.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Rome is great, but Florence is king of the Italian cities, without doubt.
Bologna is great for foodies, Siena is beautiful and a bit quieter than Florence for a Tuscan experience, Naples is fun and raucous, and little Urbino is a complete gem of a place.
Venice is Venice. Unique and atmospheric, but facking expensive and the most touristy place I've ever been.
Didn't think much of Pisa, Milan or Turin; all a bit overrated for me.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I enjoyed Napels, although very run down.
Bologna is next on the list, I hear it's great for food.
I didn't enjoy Venice or Rome although I'm glad I did them. The kind of place that's great to experience but I wouldn't return to.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Bologna is incredible for food. The streets markets and enotecas are amazing.
It's a big student town as well, so there are great bars and a very chilled and fun nightlife, as well as plenty to see, unsurprisingly for an Italian City, if you're into architecture, Renaissance art and history, etc.
I've not been, but the Ferrari museums at Modena and Maranello are also nearby and supposed to be superb, whether you're big into cars or not.

Pretty much everything everyone has said I would have suggested. Make sure you see the arch of Titus as well. It's near the Colossrum so you can't miss it and the detail in it is incredible.
I'm really interested in Roman history so I love Rome

Fabolous place, been 3 times including getting married there 8 years ago
Colosseum is excellent as are the Spanish steps and trevi fountain
Food is amazing but can be privy stay off main streets like via nationale and try side streets when looking for somewhere to eat
Also the traffic is mental!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The only people the traffic stops for is nuns
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I almost ran a nun over once. There was a convent near our place, it was late, I was drunk and high on drugs, driving back from a bar, she was cycling near the convent - I swerved and missed her by a gnats chuff. Just about managed to keep myself on St Peters list there.
