Jamie Vardy

Don't get me wrong no one will forget the amazing season he had in helping Leicester achieve the impossible but if anyone personifies the word " one season wonder" then Jamie Vardy surely is top of that list? All the hype last season about him being one of the best in the country and better than Harry Kane The guy can't even score in a brothel at the moment. We got a bit of stick last year with certain people claiming Vardy was better than Harry. This is not a Leicester v Spurs article so I don't want any Leicester fans claiming the moral high ground coming on here. This is about Jamie Vardy being a one season wonder.

Now I don't know how many goals Kane would score for Leicester but I am sure that he's a better striker/player.

I'm not really debating that - what I'm saying is Kane without service wouldn't score many goals. Remember the Euros?

Yet somehow you can't see this as a reason Vardy isn't scoring and its down to the fact he's a one season wonder.

It's ridiculous. Did you not see his hat trick against man city? He can still finish...he hasn't somehow forgotten how to do it

To be perfectly honest, Jamie Vardy is the exact player I'd like us to sign as a compliment or alternative to Kane. Has pace, can play up top on his own, can finish, will cause all teams problems.

He'd work with Kane superbly as Roy should have discovered when England manager. Those two with sterling and Lallana on the wing could have caused mayhem for most defences. Vardy could have alternated with Sturridge to start with Kane

Instead we did that shambolic 4-3-3 which produced fack all

Well it didn't help that Kane was one of those made to provide service i.e. with corners, such was Hodgson's cluelessness.

I expect he isn't getting as much service as he was used to last season, but I also don't believe he'd have replicated that same season as last even if service was improved.

Why is it he doesn't appear to be scoring in the CL when you've been playing a lot better and other strikers have scored?

To be honest we haven't played that much better in the CL. The quality of opposition has been poor, that's the difference. We have bagged some 1-0 wins with Slimani getting on the end of crosses - as soon as we face Sevilla we'll be absolutely mullered.

I'm not saying Vardy would score another 25 goals but if you put him in the Spurs team he'd have a lot more than 5 this season

Is it really just the strength of the opposition? I think you've been stepping it up in that competition deliberately in comparison to the PL. Players like Mahrez are putting in more of a shift, and your defence has been more solid. I know you lost 5-0 in your last game but that doesn't happen if you play a strong team and have something to play for.

I guess it depends what you consider as being a successful season for an individual. Vardy again might do well for us in Kane's position. I don't see him doing '3 consecutive seasons of 20 or more goals' well though.

No I don't think Vardy is the complete striker. I don't think he has the qualities Kane has and you have to feed him balls over the top or fizz crosses into the box.

I'm not sure he's a consistent 25 goal a season striker and he goes through real streaks of goalscoring and then not scoring. But the problem this season has been Leicester.

Why has Ranieri changed your style so much blacky? The difference between this season and last season surely cannot rest on just one player - NKante. He's very good but not that good
Did a lot of Leicester fans bemoan Mahrez season before last as well?

I think Ranieri was never comfortable with how open we were last season and we ended up winning the title by grinding out some tough 1-0 wins. A lot of the points had been racked up with free flowing attacking football earlier in the season.

He's really taken it to another level this season and I think it's part of his Italian philosophy - very defensive minded, priority is to defend deep and keep a clean sheet. Last season Kante allowed us to do that but by not replacing him he's dug a hole for himself by pursuing this tactic

When the players go out there without any shackles on them, like against man city, we still look really dangerous......I just think Ranieri is trying to turn us into lazio or something.

The season before last Mahrez never really got a decent run in the team. Pearson used him sparingly and we knew he had potential but it wasn't fully realised so we had no expectations of him
