Players you were gutted....

.... about selling at the time, but in hindsight it was nothing but the right decision.

Following on from Phils article, which follows on from Chronics, which follows on from Taxis, in which the trail appears to end; or at least for now.

Which players had we sold and you were really not happy with leaving at the time but now realise what a bullet we dodged (not talking about top players who have left for bigger things)?

Caulker, a promising prospect who we let go for £8m due to off-the-field reasons left me befuddled, we let go such a talented player for a silly remark. Turns out, he is absolutely useless and it was a massive bullet dodged.

Sigurdsson, after being a swap deal with Davies & Vorm, has been pretty fantastic for Swansea yet in his absence I think it has been very telling why he was sold. Eriksen has just gone from strength to strength, with his style suiting the system very well. Sigurdsson meanwhile has proven that he is a luxury player who doesn't quite have the skill to be an acceptable luxury for a top 4 aiming side.

Pritchard, not for me but some had a lot of faith in this player. Currently proving that he isn't even making it in the championship for Norwich.

Sandro, I felt that despite his injury issues he was still the quality player he was before, yet it is obvious now that selling him in the summer of 2014 was a good move from our club.

Any others for you? Maybe some less recent than the ones mentioned.

Players you were gutted....about selling at the time
*******************************
Nobody.

You have to deal with this "time waster" in the context of the team we have right now.

It could be argued that having Modric or Bale would improve this squad.
Would it?
Its a very balanced squad. How would our current marquee players, Deli Alli and Kane fit with Bale on the pitch?
I think it might just be chaos and confusion.
Modric? Well he's usually all over the pitch, maybe he would give Alli a rest on the bench - or would it be t'other way around?
Bale in place of Dembele or Eriksen or Lamela or Wanyama? Totally different player. Pochettino would have to get him to play the way Poch wants - which could be impossible.

Now about Townsend. That was a discipline thing. Yes, there are times when he would be useful. But team cohesion is paramount.
So I would say No to him too.

Right now, I'm glad we sold them all!

Darren Bent , I felt sorry for him as he was left on his own and was paired Fryers or Pav, but despite scored goals .

David Bentley also gonna be another .
