Trophies at Spurs

I put this comment on one of the threads but feel it merits an article and discussion amongst our supporters. We are in a fantastic postion as a club no doubt about it and Levy has played a big part in that despite frustrating me during the transfer window most season's but i feel we really need to start pushing on to win stuff. All this net spend bulls** is all fancy and nice but what good is it if we are never winning anything? I would expect Spurs with this vibrant young team to go on and win trophies within the next few years and would be very disappointed if we didn't to be honest. It's about time us supporters actually see some silver wear.

I just want to know how long do we wait before we feel enough is enough? No i'm not saying sack Pochettino if he doesn't win the FA cup but surely we should expect some sort of trophy and i'm sure so do the players within the next few years. It's a big reason why our top players eventually leave ( Modric, Bale and Berbatov). We have a great future with our club and a superb stadium in the pipeline but i feel now is the time where we need to see trophies. It's been far to long

Not trying to WUM ourselves, but remember pre FA Cup win the amount of abuse we gave Arsenal fans for going X years without a trophy?

We have surpassed that now, it really is embarrassing.

well arsenal are a bigger club than we are... and pay their manager and players a lot more for no trophies....

You're walking that tight rope between victims of your own success and not having the attitude of winners. You've obviously done very well and given the money of your competition the club have every right to be praised but it will be with that caveat 'given the money'. If that attitude comes from within the club it can be limiting. It is the reality but that doesn't help your cause and last season proved spending big isn't the only way to win.

When i feel enough is enough is the time we go out and spent 50 million on that world class player that will put us up to the next level. When we move into this stadfium we will have the funds to do this.

No you won't. Stadium revenue is important, but moreso is commercial revenue.

Until you grow commercial revenue, you will never be able to compete with the big boys financially

Good article - it's the right time for the supporters to be thinking like this. I have been a Spurs supporter for over 45 years and this is the best team I've seen in that time.

For the first time ever, I even put money on Spurs to win a trophy this year after the West Brom game.

Butt those back-to-back FA cup wins hardly elevated Wenger back to godlike status did they? Maybe bought him a bit more time but that's it. If anything it brought sharply into focus for Arsenal fans that only the league title will do.

Louis van gaal's fa cup win with united made no difference whatsoever. Sad as it is, I most top-six teams' fans would take top four over a trophy every time.

It seems that some of your fellow fans don't want to accept how good this Spurs side are. Spurtle for example refuses to accept that Spurs can be talked about as realistic title winners this season.

Chelsea have it in the bag according to him and anything other than a Chelsea title win would supposedly be some kind of disaster.

Personally I think that's a small club mentality. In a world where fecking Leicester City are Premier League Champions why should Spurs fans not think that they can win the title ?

Even your club's motto is about daring to dream although you wouldn't know that from some of your fans who don't seem to want to put any expectancy at all on your side.

We've been here before though in recent seasons, so I can understand the note of caution with some supporters. Not tempting fate etc. And I was also like this in past seasons because you always knew that the team were capable of self-imploding.

However, I feel there is no soft underbelly in this current team/squad. I have confidence this year and that's why my money is on for a trophy this year.

As a rival fan looking at your side I feel the same. There are no real weaknesses in this side and you have a very good manager in Poch. Also your players will have learned a lot after last season when at one point it looked you could win the title.

As I kept saying to Spurtle there are still a whopping 51 points still to play for this season so a mere 7 point gap can easily be overturned over the remaining half of the season still left to play.

Not wanting to give you lot ideas but I'm getting tired of some of your fans claiming that Chelsea have it in the bag already and that Spurs catching us up would be some kind of big shock. It really wouldn't and your fans thinking that way doesn't really help your chances.

You've beaten us already and more than matched us at WHL. It could be argued that man for man you have a better 11 than us or at the very least are just as good. Also you've now won 6 on the bounce making you the form side in the PL.
