Football's Rich List

I don't think there's a bigger indicator of how much money is involved in the PL when a club whose been away from the league for a decade can become the 20th richest club in the world. Obviously it wouldn't have happened without the PL win and reaching the knockout stages of the CL but it's pretty amazing that after only two and a half seasons we're on that list.

The other PL teams on the list are pretty much as expected though I was surprised by one, West Ham are 18th but possibly the increase in capacity is the reason for that.

Well done to United as well, whatever anyone thinks about them, to generate the most amount of money out of any football club in the world is impressive.

"Codswallop" ... now there is a phrase that you don't hear too often these days.

Oh golly .... utter bunkum I say!

Shows you why the likes of United will never not be successful.

Even after some torrid years, they can effectively buy their way to the top.

No offence to them but it's true.

And still can't consistently win the CL, why?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Because the best players don't want to play in England, we have the B list while all the A list are playing at Barca, Juve, Real, Bayern and PSG.

Codswallop!

A complete cop out!

----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's not though is it, all the best players don't play in England and all the best players in England eventually go to sign for a big European club once they've made it in the PL. Bale, Ronaldo, Modric, Suarez I could go on and on.

All the proper world class players are abroad, I don't think any PL players would make a world XI.

I agree and disagree, the best club the world has known will attract the best players, but the EPL has as more world class players than France and Germany and Italy.
You can't call Costa, Alderweirld, DDG, Ibra, Silva, Lloris, Sanchez, DDG, Alli, Aguerro and Kane B list, you just can't...in my opinion.

How many of those players you mentioned would make a world XI? None of them would make mine so yeah they're the B list as far as I'm concerned. Buffon is the best keeper, the two Italian centre halves are better than Alderweireld, there are loads of midfielders better than Alli. Neymar, Suarez, Messi and Ronaldo are better than Costa, Sanchez, Kane and Aguero. Do you see what I'm getting at?

The thing is you can say across the leagues that the PL has more but the point you're missing is Juve, Bayern and PSG have better players than anyone in the PL and then there's Barca and Real. The PL might have the most money but it definitely doesn't attract the best players in the world and that's why English teams don't do well in the PL.

CoE -Vardy and Mahrez are the 7th and 8th best players in the whole world.

I think the draw of Leicester kept them in the premier league.

Generally the worlds top players play at the big European clubs, but there is a much higher volume of bigger and better players in the prem. beyond the big clubs in Europe, the quality isn't high.

But I agree that the top 5-10 players in the world will generally be at the clubs to mentioned.

Yeah you're right they are, I wonder how many would pick either for their world XI, can't imagine many.

Yeah I agree the volume is here and there are a lot of quality players just not the elite.

Can't believe I'm arguing in favour of the English league.

As you say it's all about opinions, I'd put Neuer before Buffon, but then I'd put DDG before Buffon as well. Using your CL criteria you can't put Juve or PSG into the elite clubs as one hasn't won it in years and the other has never won it.
The only undisputable 'world class players' play for Real or Barcelona and even then your talking 4 or 5 players. Bayern are a great team more than having greater players than Man Utd/Chelsea et al.

Each to their own opinion, I think England has world class players playing for them, you don't c'est la vie.
