Nottm. Forest v Bristol City Match Thread

Today is our most important match for years in our bleakest period ever. We are fortunate to be playing a side which is eminently beatable, and they must be beaten to give Gary Brazil the best chance of pulling the team away from the relegation zone.

Lose today and I fear the worst. That is why everyone must give 100%. The team must be as intense and strong as ever, and for two hours the fans must be right behind the eleven who are on the pitch. I shall be joining the protest today but once I am through the turnstile Fawaz will be forgotten, takeovers will be forgotten, structure will be forgotten. Come three o'clock it will be just about the eleven on the pitch and the fans - that is all that matters.

Will Gaz abandon the summer signings in favour of the tried and tested - I expect so. Pinillos or Iacovitti at LB, Vaughan in midfield, Ward to start?

Tammy Abraham was their danger man when we went to their place but seems to have gone a bit quiet since.

The team I would like to see:

Henderson

Lichaj Mills Hobbs Pinillos

Ward Cash Vaughan Osborn

Britt Vellios

I hope and think we will win this.

I think we were lucky in coming up against a useless Bristol City side, Leeds will be a very tough game and I can see us getting tonked there if we're complacent.

Just got back.

The team was nervous to start with but put a shift in today and after the goal we were really on top.

Good defensive performance as well and Pinillos can take the accolade of always keeping a clean sheet when he plays.

The win was so needed and we achieved it and even though it is a step towards safety there is a staircase to go and a real test will be against leeds next week.

However even though it wasn't magical (even though the goal was) the team certainly put a shift in today and thoroughly deserved the send off at the end.

One swallow doesn't make a summer but I get a good feeling that Forest are better prepared to face up to the second half of the season.

Brazil after the game: "We asked for commitment and character and as the game went on we had real men on the pitch - I'm proud of them."

A dig at all the foreign loanees?

Except for vellios (I still do not get why he does not start ahead of bendtner) and Periera, and an argument for Perquis the rest have been pretty dire.

He was asked directly by Robin Chipperfield why none of the summer signings started too. It is fairly obviously that Forest needed battlers not ballerinas and credit to GB for making a statement here.

Ah, didn't hear the interview as had to go out. That makes sense now.
