Impressive achievement to be the all time top scorer at a club like Man Utd

Although I've always had a very big soft spot for the club I have to say he doesn't compare to the greats like Dixie at Everton or Mcgrory at Celtic - less than 1 in 2 and when you get over 100,000 a week on average there's no real claim to loyalty either imho.

Seems petty considering his feat but just my opinion.

Great achievement especially as he hasn't been the footballer we all thought he'd be.

He's not a great though. There won't be many in years to come telling kids about this amazingly great footballer Wayne Rooney.

He won't be talked about in the same breath as some of his own teammates in Keane, Scholes, Ronaldo, Giggs etc..

messi and Ronald are world class ffs they pick up Ballon d'Ors as a facking hobby, Larson was a striker

Rooney isn't a 35 - 40 goal a season striker , larsson was, Rooney is doing it in the biggest league in the world not the SPL ffs

That makes it even better because he isn't as good as some of the ones you mention but still achieves what he has but the OP isn't about how good he is it's about his fantastic acheivment today

I would guess Man U fans will decide exactly where the guy fits in the scheme of club legends.

Given he has been captain is the highest scorer while also playing over 100 times for his country and being the top scorer and captain at that level as well he cant be very far off the top.

Chuck in a plethora of medals inc Champs League and its an amazing career

The fact that he has done it over such a lengthy time at the highest level speaks volumes.

The only down side would be I hear he has a soft spot for Celtic
