Fall Out from the weekend.......

So after another abject performance we are all back to questioning when it will change, how it will change, how it gets changed etc.

Firstly let me say that as far as I am concerned Claudio is under no threat this season at all, what happened last season has bought him enough credit in the bank to be given the whole of this season to make sure we stave off relegation and stay as a Premier League club for next season. But saying that, IF we finish 15th-17th I firmly believe that the owners will look to freshen things up for next season and that will include the managers position. I would like to see CR kept on in an upstairs role if that was something he was interested in.

After yesterdays game there is an awful lot of people calling our CR for his changes/tactics etc. and to be fair to him he held his hands up and admitted he got it wrong.

But interestingly there are a lot of ex players etc. questioning the players and their performances this season. Very interesting thoughts by Ian Wright last night who called out the players and said they should be ashamed of their performances this season.

It's in the news, don't we all believe everything we read?

Still, I'm just trying to get the whole picture and catch up with your expert knowledge, funny how we both have come to the same conclusion and think CR might go at huge end of the season.

TB

Funnily enough no I don't

As for the "expert knowledge" dig, I think that's a low blow. Just because I disagree with your opinion and put my own opinion out there doesn't make me an expert at all.

So while people like TB, and the first caller to 606 yesterday may be laying it completely at the door of CR, people who have a bit more about them can see the bigger picture and that we are failing in numerous areas at the moment.

Just working off your statement here!

I assumed you'd got a 'bit more about you' ?

You aren't going down?

I like your confidence, but the few teams below you are taking actions to improve their positions, as it stands, you appear not to be; I think you are going down.

Mainly agree with DDDD here.

As I've said, for most of the season Ranieri has seen the issues we have and made sensible changes to rectify them. The problem has been that none have worked.

The players also need to take responsibility. They have looked like they have delivers very poor application at times. Sunday was an embarrassment. At least run!!!

Even if Ulloa is annoyed bun ranieri, it's not unusual. All players who aren't playing are not happy. That is basically been done to bring about a move - not very pleasant and blatant. It's in this instance I quote Ferguson.

The second one player thinks he's bigger than the manager or the team. Get rid. Never cede control to the players.

The dressing room looks ok to me but it won't be if we carry on as we are!

I hope Ranieri turns it around soon.

It seems to me that if the goalkeeper, either Kasper or Ron Robert commanded their six yard box as all good keepers should, there would be more assuredness from the back four.
Unfortunately, Drinkwater has not hit the heights of last season, quite possibly as a result of no Kante and still getting used to a new midfield partner. Even so, since his recent injury, he has been woeful. More creativity needed from midfield as opposed to the ball over the top or round the back which surprised everybody last season.
So, apart from strengthening the central defensive area, we need an Adrien Silva or other creative midfielder and a new goalkeeping coach!
And Senegal to beat Algeria tonight. It's not that much to ask surely?

I think that Drinkwater gets a bad press because many expect him to be our creative inspiration, but for me he's not an attacking midfielder. Ideally your defensive midfielder needs to break up play, sit deep and have good passing ability. This, in turn, gives him a creative element to his game.

An attacking midfielder is the bloke that you want breaking out of midfield with the ball, supporting the attackers, making things happen around the edge of the box and scoring his fair share of goals. That's not Drinkwater.

In fact, I don't think we have an attacking midfielder in the squad. You could make an argument for Andy King, but he's not really good enough in any department at PL level.

This is one of my main arguments against a midfield 3. All we do is have 3 midfielders whose preference it is to sit, or sit and pass. People look for DD to play the role of the bloke who links with the front man or men, but it's just not his game.

We should go back to two sitting - or buy somebody who can do the role of CAM or No. 10.

Drinkwater started the season really well if you remember; it was only him and Schmiechel that people were touting as being as good or better than last year. However, he got a suspension, picked up a knock and currently looks just mentally drained and in need of a break.
Morgan and Huth do as well to be fair, but there's just no point in playing Wasilewski any more and the management obviously don't trust Benalouane.

Completely agree Dunge
DD has looked off the pace since his injury and suspension, and being shoe horned into a diferent role hasn't helped his impact on our games this season.

Morgan and Huth are sure starters for the rest of this season unless we buy a new CB in the next week. Wasi is just there as comic relief/ red card waiting to happen etc and Benny is just treading water until we ship him out in the summer I think.
