Fergie happy with Mou

Apparently happy with progress made so far.

Other than the "if we didn't draw so many" we'd be challenging Chelsea, can't disagree much...

PS did take a dig at not giving youth a chance, which I agree with as well...

People also forget that back when the class of 92 came though there were loads of proven leaders who knew United inside and out to help guide them.

Cantona, Bruce, pallister, schmeichel, Irwin and Keane.

Very true. We are missing a few leaders in the team. One reason that I am hoping Jones stays fit.

Yeah I think we would all like to see youth get a bit more action but for me that isn't a priority right now. Once we get the first team back to shape and the mentality back then we can look to blood in youth IMO.

We've been a mess for 3 years after 20+ years of success, can't do everything at once.

Football has also changed since Ferguson came in, I think the club were far more willing to give Ferguson time to do what he planned where as Jose (and any other manager for that matter) are expected results far quicker so how you develop your side changes.
---------------------

I think that Ferguson had a lot more to do when he took over though, so he was always going to get more time.

We are a much better run club than when Ferguson took over and the foundations were already there for Moyes, LVG and now Jose. All 3 of them should have been able to make at a minimum top 4 with the financial backing they were given, whilst also stacking to the traditions of the club by mixing in youth with the experienced senior players.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

You're forgetting how competive it is at the top now though. - two good clubs will miss out on top 4. Giving a youth player a chance to succeed - of fail could be the difference between us getting top 4 or not getting it.

It's a risk that the club can't afford to take.

No I agree Ferguson had a massive task but so was the task once he left but in a slightly different way. The club was run well but when you take away someone as important as Ferguson then it's always going to be incredibly difficult to continue the success. Ferguson pretty much became the club and everything went through him, once you remove that then things change drastically and while Moyes wasn't the answer he kind of took on an impossible job where a lot of changes were required and needed time to settle.

Come on, you can't compare Jose playing a young player tried and tested by the previous regime to Fergie bringing through 5 kids in one season.

Feck me.

"Giving a youth player a chance to succeed - of fail could be the difference between us getting top 4 or not getting it."

It's fair to say all the other top clubs are player as much, if not more youth than us though.

I'm not hugely concerned with this, it's part and parcel of having Jose as the manager. Who knows when he's been here 3/4 years he may start to blood in youth and trust them with a place in the squad.

What top clubs are playing a 19 year old as much as Rashford is for us this season?

When did I ever say that? What a weird comment

To be fair to Jose, his first choice CB is a 22 year old who didn't speak a word of English, he has given Lingard, Martial and Rashford plenty of chances on the flanks and none have made the position their own, plus he started with Shaw as his first choice LB but again, he has failed to impress.

The only youngster who I feel deserves more playing time is Fosu Mensah. Who else in our academy is realistically ready and deserving of first team games?

All of the players that you have mentioned have already proven themselves before Jose joined. The issue with Jose ins't that he doesn't use young players that are already proven, but that he is less likely than other managers promote them himself to give them their first team debut.

As for the academy, Tuanzebe is the player that is most ready to make the step up. I have actually just read an article based on an interview with Jose on MUTV where he mentions Tuanzebe and suggests that he will get his debut this month. I expect he will start against Wigan, who incidentally he played very well against during preseason.
