and the way the market is at the moment there just isnt any value in buying players.

i prey that we will continue to use youth as under studies in view to the future and actually coach players.

obviously the next hazards and costa's will need to be bought but i think we have enough talent in

RLC needs a loan for me, I just don't trust him during such a crucial time. He has shown he's got quality (Peterborough I think) but I think he needs a spell of first team football to demonstrate what kind of player he is going to impose himself as.

His technique needs a little polishing, as does his decision making. He also needs to just feel more integral to a senior first team to enough him to put himself about a bit more. To know when to take the game by the scruff of the neck and when to keep it simple.

I think even a few weeks away would see a real benifit for next season. I can't quite make out the temperament of the kid but I just want to see more from him, sometimes I get the impression he's taking it for granted a bit.

Delighted that we sold Oscar. I've been saying for ages that he needed to be sold although when I started saying it people would make excuses for him claiming that he needed more of a summer rest etc.

Good to see that the majority finally came round to my way of thinking. Even better that we somehow managed to get 60 million for him.

First of all - I'll never speak ill of Ramires. He had his weaknesses for sure - but in my opinion he scored the best, and possibly the most important, goal Chelsea have ever scored. For that alone he will always be a Chelsea legend, and I will be forever grateful.

And yes, £60M for Oscar is a fantastic deal that was impossible for us to turn down. But it's hard to argue that our squad is better without him (and without a replacement) that it is with him. We probably have good enough squad cover for this season with all the youngsters coming through - and we'll have money to invest in the Summer. But I do think sometimes that the business people at the club tend to hamstring our managers. I can't believe, for instance, that Conte has told the club NOT to sign a replacement for Oscar. My guess is, that there are just not good enough players available in January for the right price. And Conte may have said he could manage without a strong replacement if necessary. But i doubt that's his first choice.

But the OP has a point - it would be BETTER if we were able to find a decent replacement for Oscar. But January is a tough time to do that. I do like the fact that we tend to be good to players who want to leave due to lack of playing time. As much as i hate the fact that we sold Cech to Arsenal - you can't deny that the club acted in the best possible way to allow him to stay in London. For all the criticism we receive as a club - I can't imagine many others would do the same. And we are planning to do the same for Begovic it sounds like - in spite of the fact that it can't possibly actually help us to do that mid-season. I think that's very honourable. And we obviously did the same with Oscar - he wasn't playing regularly, and he got a good offer to leave.

At the same time though - this doesn't HELP Conte. Letting players go without replacing them adequately is not a constructive long-term policy. I am happy for the players we did let leave under these circumstances, but I am not completely confident in our transfer policy or the people in charge of transfers at the club.

Poor old Oscar. He gets a bad rap, but he served us well for the most part, even if he didn't ultimately live up to his early promise.
